Jason smiles as he spoke with a deep and clear voice. “Annyeonghaseyo. It’s the formal way to say hello. You use it when speaking to elders, anyone with power above you or a stranger. Annyeonghaseyo.” Jason repeated the word.

Nate waved at Jason even though he was sitting right next to him, "Annyeonghaseyo!" He repeated then laughed. "That one's a little more difficult to say."

“Not by much. It’s really just ‘an young ha say yo’.” Jason broke down the word. “I bet you want to write out this long word now.”

"Um…maybe? How long is it?" Nate asked, not sure if he wanted to do that much writing.
(Don't worry, he's not serious, he's just joking. He wouldn't mind writing out the long word…XD)

Jason shrugged. “It’s not that long.” He quickly grabbed the paper and jotted down ‘안녕하세요’ is messy handwriting so he could count the letters. “Only twelve symbols but there’s only five boxes.”

(Hey, I forgot to tell you that I'm gonna be on vacation until Wednesday. I might manage to get online for a little bit at a time, but I'm not sure for how long or when…sorry…)
Nate's eyes widened, "That looks confusing." He laughed before picking up his pencil again and waiting to listen to Jason's next instructions.

“I’m going to do one box at a time. First letter, ‘ㅇ’, takes up the top half of the line and it’s just a place holder, so it doesn’t make any sounds. It looks sorta like an ‘O’. Next letter ‘ㅏ’, makes an ‘ah’ sound and also takes up the top half of the line. The last letter in this box is ‘ㄴ’, and it makes an ‘n’ sound. It goes under the first two you wrote.” Jason pointed to each letter as he was explaining them. He also drew them out in the air so Nate could see how exactly to write each one.

Nate watched and followed Jason's instructions carefully, hoping that this time he wouldn't mess up as bad as the last time.

Jason nodded as Nate was writing. He was doing a lot better than last time. “So for the next box the first letter is ‘ㄴ’ and it makes the ‘N’ sound. Make it take up the top half. Then the following letter is ‘ㅕ’. That makes an ‘yeo’ sound. This one takes up the top half also but so it’s inside on the letter before it.” Jason drew out ‘녀’ in the air. “So it looks like that. The final letter in this box is ‘ㅇ’. “It makes and ‘ing’ sound and goes under the two letters before it.”

Nate finished writing the new word and smiled. "It looks kinda like your's." He commented, showing it to Jason again as well as the rest of the people at their table.

Jason smiles a little at how cute Nate was acting. “The word you wrote was annyeong. That’s the informal way to say hello. just add ‘ㅎ,ㅏ,ㅅ,ㅔ,ㅇ,ㅛ,’ and you have a formal word.”

"I'm getting pretty good at this." Nate joked with a nod before laughing and attempting to write both of the words once again on his piece of paper.

Jason nodded in agreement. “Just keep practicing and you’ll be able to write all the words I teach you easily.”

Nate nodded at Jason's words and stuck his tongue out in concentration as he continued to try and write the words another time.

Jason looked around the table and for the first time realizing that there were other people there. He leaned over to Nate and whispered. “Who are they?”

Nate looked up, "Oh, sorry Jason. This is the rest of my band. There's Isaac over there, he plays bass guitar. That's Caleb, he plays guitar. And that is Connor, he plays lead guitar and sings most of the vocals, though we all sing at least back ups or something in every song." He pointed to each person in turn. "Guys, this is Jason." After he finished introducing everyone, the rest of the band waved to Jason before turning back to the music they were working on.

“Ah.” Jason nodded with a wave. Jason turned back to Nate. “How long have you known them?”

"For as long as I can remember. We all grew up together and are neighbors. Our parents are great friends too so…I've known them basically before I was even born." Nate explained with a laugh.

Jason laughed. “I guess that’s a long time.”

"Yeah, sometimes it's great, sometimes it isn't." Nate agreed, sticking his tongue out at his band mates in a joking manner.

“Are they annoying?” Jason asked, looking at the members.

"It depends on the day." Nate shrugged, "We play a lot of pranks and stuff on each other which can get outta hand, but we're all practically brothers so fights don't usually occur without probable cause."

“Ah. I have friends like that.” Jason understood the relationship that they had.” But I haven’t spent much time with them recently because I’m out of the country. During school breaks and summer I hang out with them a ton.”
