"Ah, o-okay." Red nodded and let her arms lower, but kept her body tense and leaned close to the side of the door.

Pluto felt bad now. She really shouldn't have snapped at Red. "Hey, I promise I won't yell at you any more alright? I know you're not really up to speed with human culture and stuff, so it's really not your fault."
(pops in, makes character talk, leaves again)
"Don't worry about us shouting, Red," Mike added from the back. "We might be a loud bunch, but we're different than the people you've known before. We're not gonna hurt you or anything."
"Of course. I'm sorry, I shouldn't generalize." Red shook her head in embarrassment.
"Everybody ready to go?"
"Yup. Think so."
(should we wait to go for Zoe since she's technically Jensen's character?)
(might be a good idea. We could at least drive to the place, then wait for Jen so they can narrate what's going on)
(sounds good) Pluto turned the key in the ignition, and the truck hummed to life. It was oddly quiet despite being an old truck. She hit a button on the keychain to open the garage door, and they pulled out into the cold, moonlit night
(Sorry I disappeared, I realized I'd forgotten to do some homework)
Mike watched the street go by outside carefully, taking in every detail the darkness allowed. "This place doesn't look much different from pre-war America, so far. Although I take it that this world discovered magic a lot earlier than ours."
"Not really. Humans more or less have no idea what magic is. And even if they do, they choose to ignore it or pretend it doesn't exist."
"Oh, really? Then I bet they don't know much about you and your job."
"Nope. And that's fine by me. If people knew about the pulse resets and the gods and the monsters, y'know what that would cause? Worldwide panic. Hell, maybe even universal panic."
"You're telling me. And those that don't fear magic will wanna use it for their own selfish reasons." Mike shook his head. "It's ridiculous."
Pluto sighed. "Yup. In most other universes magic is a common thing. Here it's more of an elevated form of science almost exclusively controlled by inhuman creatures. I think it's because the original guardian of this dimension fueled a lot of magic here, but after he disappeared the magic just…drained away bit by bit."
"Huh. Sounds like a logical explanation. I sometimes do business with a group of scientists studying magic, and they say they can't figure out its origin no matter how hard they try. Sure is weird stuff, in any dimension."
"You aren't wrong. Here it's pretty vital. It more or less fuels the dimension, but without the original guardian around to keep it flowing the dimension is more or less stuck. I've been trying to find the guy, but he's pretty difficult to track and it looks like he wasn't a favorite among his species."
"Welp, good luck with that. And if you do find him?"
"I'll make him fix the mess he made of the dimension, and then I'm gonna make him take his stupid job back." The truck rounded a corner and slowed as they finally reached the group of warehouses
"All right then." Mike leaned forward, the businesslike tone returning to his voice. "Until then, I guess we'll have to clean up his messes for him."
"Yup." Pluto slowed, driving around the warehouses. "Huh. Should be around here somewhere…"
(this a good spot to wait for the others? I gotta go for a while anyway)
(yeah)
(i'm finally back)
(now we just need Jensen. I think he's gonna be back in roughly an hour)
(Hi I'm technically not here atm)
(Ok, now I'm technically present)
(hello)
(hi)
(apparently Jensen isn't back yet. he's doing easter stuff right now so I guess he might still be a while)
