"Oh," Crash said. "Well that's Maddie right there."
"Oh," Crash said. "Well that's Maddie right there."
Isalda beamed and she moved a step towards Maddie, who took a step back, “Maddie, it’s me, remember,” Maddie shook her head, “I’m so sorry, but I don’t. I Can’t remember anything that happened before…” Maddie couldn’t finished her sentence. “I’m sorry, this was a waste of your time.” Maddie turned to walk off but Isalda grabbed her arm and spun her back, to face her. “No, I will not leave now that I’ve found you.”
Luke frowned. "You knew Maddie? Were you in the same, you know, situation as her, in the lab?"
Isalda shook her head, “No, I wasn’t. They didn’t know about me and even if they did wouldn’t do anything. My powers aren’t like Maddie’s and my father was well respected. They would not and could not touch me.”
"Ah. I….guess you got lucky then." Luke shifted, apparently feeling uncomfortable. "Oh, whoops. I'm Luke, by the way, and this is Nathan and Crash. We're friends of Maddie too."
Maddie was the Luke was uncomfortable, “Should we head back?” she asked
"Yeah," Crash said. "I'm tired, and it's almost dark out."
"I suppose we should get cooking if we want to eat before midnight," Luke agreed. "Feel free to join us for supper, Isalda."
“Really? Thank-you. Is that ok, Maddie?” Isalda asked.
“Yeah, I suppose that’s fine.” Maddie secretly loved that fact the someone knew her, and she wanted to talk to Isalda alone and find out everything, but when the boys aren’t around.
They went back to the den, and Crash ducked into the cave to get some sleep while Luke and Nathan went back to setting up the fire. After some fiddling, they got a spit set up and started roasting some of the meat, which gave off a rich, lovely aroma as it began to cook.
Luke absently turned the spit, staring into the fire. "So how'd you know where to find us, Isalda? Did someone tell you where we went?"
Isalda shrugged, “Instinct, I heard two boys and a girl was spotted with a demon and the description of the girl matched what I knew of Maddie,” she laughed a little, “You really haven’t changed a lot in appearance, Maddie.”
(Gotta go, don’t know when I’ll be back)
(Kay, I should probably go to bed anyway ^^; Seeya!)
"Did anyone seem to be looking for us?" Luke inquired. "We kinda had to leave in a hurry…."
“I couldn’t see anyone, I wasn’t paying that much attention to be honest.” Isalda glanced at Maddie who had decided to stay silent.
"Well, that's something. 'Twas kind of a sticky situation, to say the least, and I'm glad we're no longer in it." He'd taken some of the meat off the fire as he spoke and allowed it to cool. Now he offered it to the girls. "No plates, sadly, but it'll still taste okay."
“Thanks,” Isalda and Maddie both accepted the food and began to eat, “Do you have any magic, Luke?” Isalda asked.
"Huh?" He looked surprised, then laughed. "Aw, nah. I'm just an ordinary human, for better or worse."
“Oh, ok then.” Isalda was a bit surprised but didn’t show it and went back to eating. Maddie, who had only taken one bite of food put hers down and stood up, “I’m just going to get some fresh air.” She said and left the cave.
(Feel free to follow her or something, I don’t know)
(k)
Luke watched her go, then excused himself and went after her. He came up beside her outside the cave and stretched, staring down at the valley. The moon was rising, and fireflies winked in and out between the trees down below. An owl called out from far away.
Luke sighed. "Nice night."
“Yeah, guess it is.” Maddie sighed and took in the view, the sounds, everything. This place was beautiful, even if there were beasts that could kill you.
Luke glanced at you sidelong for a moment. "You doing okay, Mads?"
“Still processing everything that’s happened. We only just escape then someone from my past shows up that I can’t even remember,” Maddie shook her head, not looking at Luke, “I’m just so confused.” She said only just higher then a whisper.
Luke nodded slowly, watching the treeline. "I'm sorry. That does sound confusing. I uh…..I don't really know if there's anything I can do to make you more comfortable, but if there is….want me to keep her distracted so you have time to think, or anything like that?"
“No, it’s fine. I just needed a break is all. She seems nice, and… I kinda do wanna talk with her but not right now.” Maddie sighed through her nose and leant back against a near by boulder.
"Well, if you're sure. You're right, she does seem pretty nice. I'll bet you'll get along great eventually." He yawned. "Huhh, I'm beat. You two and Dog Boy can have the cave, I'll stay out here. Doesn't seem like it'll get too cold tonight."
“No, you go in. I need some time alone and besides, I think I’m better qualified if something does come along since you’re just an ‘ordinary human’” Maddie said the last bit in quotation marks and laughed slightly.
He snorted. "Have it your way, Milady. Don't stay up too long." He gave a mock salute and went back into the cave, whistling softly.
Maddie laughed to herself, and sat down with her back to the boulder. She smiled and breathed in the night air, embracing the darkness around her. Maddie looked at the cave, then back to the forest and closed her eyes, but keeping her ears open.
(I'm here guys, sorry I was gone so long. Long day)
(hello! ^^ Did ya catch that we introduced a new character?)
