(We were talking abt Percy Jackson here.)
“My stomach just..really hurts..” Briar panted, holding her abdomen tightly.
Oliver wasn't sure what to do with himself so instead he paced the hallway, never going more than three feet away from Dove. "Do you think everything's gonna be alright?" He asked meekly, shooting another worried glance at the door.
Dove looked towards Oliver and opened her mouth, as if to say something, but she closed it and stared at the ground.
Natalie folded her hands ontop of her head, clearly distressed. "Caroline?"
“My stomach just..really hurts..” Briar panted, holding her abdomen tightly.
"Might be the placenta coming up," Caroline supposed.
He huffed out a sigh and continued to pace. I can't loose someone else…
"We could check on her?" Dove suggested, "I hope she's okay."
“Placenta..don’t female dogs..eat that?” Briar made a face, clearly sickened by doing a deed such as that.
"Um, no, it's basically connected to the umbilical cord and provides nutrients for the baby."
"Is there like… girl stuff going on in there? I don't wanna just walk in…" Oliver blushed, becoming flustered.
"Is there like… girl stuff going on in there? I don't wanna just walk in…" Oliver blushed, becoming flustered.
Poor Oliver..
"Girl stuff, huh?" Dove smiled, "I guess I'll check then?"
(ok well gtg goodnight)
"I'll wait right here." He gave Dove a thumbs up.
(K then..)
Dove knocked on the door and waited.
(I guess I can fill in as Caroline..)
Caroline raced to the door and yanked it open, ushering Dove inside.
“Briar’s just having some stomach pain is all. It’s nothing to worry about..” she reassured her worried friend.
Dove nodded, "You sure? Oliver's pretty worried."
“Yeah! She’ll be fine..you two can come in if you’d like?” Caroline forced her grin to stretch to its limits. She was tired beyond recognition and just wanted to collapse on a bed somewhere
Briar’s pain seemed to have subsided, as she was now resting against her pillow.
“Can I see the baby, please..” her voice was weak.
Natalie sighed and sat down again. "Okay that settles it. As soon as we can clear Briar and the baby, we're all going to my house to get some rest."
Oliver crept in the room after Dove, shielding his eyes with his hand. "Can I look?" He asked, cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
Dove smiled at Oliver, "Don't worry, we're not comparing period pad sizes or anything."
Oliver slowly took his hand away from his face. "Actually tampons are great for stemming blood in bullet wounds because they can staunch heavy blood flow." Oliver explained, trying to relate the two topics in his head. None of this made sense to him. He snuck a curious glance at the incubator before shifting his gaze to Briar. "How are you?" He asked softly.
Dove nodded, "I know that. In fact, people used them for stopping bullet wounds before they thought, hey, we can use them for periods!"
Oliver was grateful that Dove was humouring his poor attempt at breaking the ice in the room. He smiled at her quickly before calming down and taking in his surroundings a bit.
Dove grinned and then pressed her lips into a line. She shifted closer to Oliver and held onto his shoulder.
"What do I do to comfort her?" Oliver whispered to Dove, lowering his voice so only she could hear him. He felt like a fish out of water when it came to all this talk about babies.
