Mikhail quickly glanced at Adrien when he heard a whimper, a look of worry on his face. "Are you okay?" He asked. He knew he probably shouldn't ask that but it was already too late.
Mikhail quickly glanced at Adrien when he heard a whimper, a look of worry on his face. "Are you okay?" He asked. He knew he probably shouldn't ask that but it was already too late.
Well, there went that hope. Adrien peeled the hand off of his mouth so he could answer. "Fine. Happens-" He stifled a groan before continuing. "All the time." He bit his lip, another spike of pain forcing him to explain "Bad heart. Pills in bathroom." He pressed a hand into his chest, kneading the skin over his heart to try and relieve his suffering.
"Do you want me to go get them?" Mikhail asked. He got into a position so he could get up and go to the bathroom if Adrien said yes.
"Please." Adrien took halted breaths, lungs constricted and eyes tearing up. It had been a relatively pain-free moth, so he supposed something like this had been in the works for a while. Stupid suicidal heart couldn't keep itself together long enough to let him live a normal life.
Mikhail quickly got up and bolted to the bathroom, looking around for the pills that Adrien was talking about. After he found the pills, he went back to Adrien and handed him the pills, bending down in front of him. "Here."
Adrien grabbed one with shaky hands, unscrewing the lid after what felt like a million years. He poured a few into his hand, swallowing the prescribed 2 after he spilled most of them onto the floor. He winced when they hit the ground. Medicine was far too expensive as is, he couldn't afford to lose any of the little blue pills.
A few of the pills fell on Mikhail and he caught them, holding them out on his palm. "Are you okay now?" He asked, the worried look still on his face.
"Takes-" Adrien winced, taking in a sharp breath when he felt another spike of pain. "Takes 15 minutes." His roomate really didn't deserve this. Mikhail walked in and not 20 minutes later the kid he was supposed to live with for the rest of the year had a weird attack and stopped working. "Sorry."
"Okay then, do you want me to wait here?" Mikhail asked, glancing at his chest where the pain was coming from. His mind was thinking of all the reasons someone would have a 'bad heart' so he could somehow help Adrien.
"Yes. Sorry." Adrien took panicky breaths, waiting for the pain to ease. Stupid heart, stupid life, stupid unfair universe cursing him with eternal frailty and weakness. He squeezed his hands into fists, needing to grab something. He wondered if Mikhail would let him hold his hand. It wasn't like Mikhail could say no while he was in this state. "Hand?" Adrien asked, holding out his own shaking palm.
"It's fine." Mikhail replied, he felt really bad since he knew he probably wasn't helping much. He glanced at Adrien when he held out his hand and he quickly took it with his own. "Of course," He answered, a small smile on his face.
Adrien grabbed Mikhail's hand, squeezing so tightly that his knuckles turned white. The throbbing in his chest began to get less sharp, though it was still painfully present. "Thanks," Adrien mumbled. Holding Mikhail's hand was comforting. It was nice. "Pills kick in soon"
Mikhail nodded. "Okay then," He mumbled. He could probably heal Adrien's heart or something like that but it would mean he would have to tell Adrien he was a fallen angel, which is something he didn't want to tell someone. Why does this have to be so hard???????????????
Mikhail seemed kind of uncomfortable. Adrien frowned. Half an hour and he'd already creeped out his roomate. It was almost a new record, second only to the time his tutor walked in on him screaming along to heavy metal a couple years ago. At least he'd get his solo living space. "Sorry," He mumbled again, squeezing Mikhail's hand in apology.
Mikhail forgot that he was holding Adrien's hand for a second, since he was so deep in thought which happened often, and squeaked in surprise when Adrien squeezed his hand, blushing in embarrassment. "Hm? What are you sorry for? You did nothing wrong," He replied.
Adrien shrugged, wincing when the movement jostled his still aching chest. The pain was steadily decreasing, but it was still present. "It's not normal. And I'm making you comfort me even though we just met." He was pleased that he could put together ore coherent sentences now. He hated being nonverbal, reminded him too much of failed surgeries and anesthesia awareness.
Mikhail shrugged. "It's fine, we're probably going to be helping each other anyway throughout the year so it's fine," He replied, smiling warmly at Adrien.
(gtg, robotics. be back around 10)
(oki den, I might not be on at 10 bc of my parents)
(Kk, I'm back now so just go on whenever.)
"Yeah. Cool." With the pain as low as it ever got, Adrien carefully let go of Mikhail's hand. He stood up, stretching cautiously before offering Mikhail a hand up. "Sorry about being so pissy when you got here."
(I'm on now)
"It's fine." Mikhail replied as he got up and smiled at Adrien before going to his side of the room.
Adrien wandered into the living room, where his coat was slung over the couch. He hadn't put it away yet, and he definitely couldn't put it somewhere it could be easily stumbled across. Maybe he could shove it under the bed? Put it on the top shelf of a closet? He sighed, gathering it in his arms and making his way to the bedroom. He could just leave it on the bed for now.
Mikhail plopped down on his bed and went on his phone to look around for jobs. He might need to do two jobs, like working at a library and a cafe…His dad used to work at a cafe and her mom used to work at a library. Ughhhhhhh, why do I have to think about them now?
Charlie tossed the seal skin onto the bed and massaged an ache in his shoulder. He had a doctors appointment in… two weeks? Three weeks? He would need to check his phone. His pone which let out a loud ding. It was just Ru, texting to say Adrien 'just had to come over and hang with him' and also to 'bring your roommate so I can make sure he's chill'
Mikhail sighed and put his phone away and took out one of the books he has, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, and started reading it. It was one of his favorite books and he has reread the book about a million times by now but it was still his favorite.
Adrien walked up to Mikhail. He didn't want to interrupt his reading, but he also knew Ru would probably come over at a random time in the middle of the night if he didn't. Sometimes Adrien really hated his brother. "Hey, Mikhail? Would you be willing to go somewhere with me?"
Mikhail glanced up from his book and at Adrien when he started talking. "Sure, when are we going?" He asked, moving some hair out of his face.
"My brother's apartment," Adrien answered, pulling on some shoes and throwing on his most comfortable hoodie. "He wants me to go show you off. My car's in the driveway." He grabbed the keys off the bed, hoping Mikhail would agree to come along.
Mikhail put his book on his desk with the book open on the page he was on as he got up and put on his converse. "Okay then," He replied, following Adrien to where his car was.
