James shrugged and crossed his arms, "Who is this Ryker guy? What is his motive for us having to fight him?" He asked, frowning.
Thranion nodded, "Yeah, I'd also like to know about this guy."

(Okay, good luck with your day! ^^)
Rick scratched his head. "Well, I admit I haven't met the guy or seen his base firsthand, so I probably shouldn't be the one to give you the details on 'em…."
Bernon, who'd stayed out of the conversation so far, now spoke up from his spot a few feet away. "When everybody's here, I'll bet the first thing we'll do is explain the situation to everybody. The others should arrive soon, but until then I'll just say this: Ryker's plan to build a so-called 'utopia' won't benefit anyone but himself. Heck, it's such a flawed plan, it might not even benefit him. But he has the means to make it happen, and that's why we're here trying to stop him."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Thranion and James nodded, "Okay, thanks for the small run down. Why would he want to do this? What's the point of it?" James asked with a small frown.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Bernon sighed. "Well…I'm not real clear on that, to be honest. He seemed to think he was powerful enough to help the whole world….but I don't think anybody can do that."
Just then Mike returned with Polla and Ozrig in tow. "All right, that's everyone. Go ahead and make yourselves comfortable and let's get started, hey?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

James and Thranion nodded before sitting down at a near by table, Thranion had his arms crossed over his chest. Tanrial turned around in her chair to face the small group that had gathered in the tavern, still not looking at newest arrivals, "Yeah, let's get this show on the road."
(Thanks! I did. Seeya later ^^)

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(ooof long post ^^; )
Mike leaned forward and addressed the group. "Okay, so first of all, I'm gonna give you guys the short-story version of what happened when Bernon, Tanrial, and I visited Ryker. Stop me if you have any questions.
"Several weeks ago Ryker hired me to find him a certain machine part–which we still have, by the way. It's a data drive that contains info on tons of things, from science to history to magic and so on. I found it, met Bernon and Tanrial, befriended them, yada yada yada. We brought Ryker the machine part, and found out to things: What he's doing now and what he plans to do.
"What he's doing now is creating a new type of human, one that has no magical ability but can still do things no ordinary person is capable of. He's got a bunch of scientists helping him out by cloning people and fiddling with their genes. Right now, all these 'hybrids' are still young, and he controls them with lies and false kindness. Now, what he plans to do is use the abilities those kids have to build a new city where only hybrids and pure-blooded humans are allowed. His ultimate goal is to completely replace the old humans with the new humans, and maybe take over the world after that. I wouldn't put it past him. So, our objective is to rescue those kids and put a stop to Ryker's plan before it even starts."
Dane raised his hand. "Why does he want to replace humanity again?"
"He thinks it'll give us a fighting chance against the growing population of magic-users, whom he hates," Mike replied. "It's worth noting that most magic-users want nothing to do with humans and aren't our enemies at all."
Dane frowned, still seeming unconvinced. Bernon noticed and spoke up. "Oh, and another thing? I'm not sure how many of you know this, but pure-blooded humans are incredibly rare. Almost all of us have either dormant or active magic in our genes nowadays. Dane, I'll bet most of your army could learn to use magic if they wanted. Maybe even you could."
Mike nodded. "Yeah, and that's why Ryker's plan would never work. Working only with pure-bloods makes for a pretty small gene pool, and his supposed miracle humans would die out as soon as they were born. Okay, with that out of the way: any other questions?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

James raised a hand, "If Ryker has poisoned these kids minds, how are we supposed to save them? What's the age range on these kids? The younger ones we might have a chance at saving but if they're older… there probably won't be any hope at saving them."

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(not gonna have time to be on tonight, sorry)
"We have to at least try," Beronn said fiercely. "The oldest is about twenty-one and the youngest is almost two. They can't understand how twisted Ryker's plan is. If we can publicly expose him somehow, it'll hurt them, yeah, but they won't be able to ignore it. I know I for one am not going to abandon even one of them down there."

@ElderGod-Carrots

(All g, don't worry ^^)
James held his hands up in innocence, "No need to get defensive their mate, I was just asking. Saving them should be our priority, yes but all I'm sayin' is we might not be able too, especially the older ones. They'll probably sick by this guy until they die."

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Bernon frowned. "Yeah but we can't just–"
"Take it easy, Bern," Mike cut in quietly. "You're right that we won't give up on those kids without a fight. But James is right too. We can't be too hopeful and we'll have to take what we can get in order to make this work."
From her seat nearby, Polla rose and took out a map, which she unfolded across the tabletop. "If that's all, shall we get to the practicals? Some of us were coming up with a basic plan before everyone got here. Shall we run it by you?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

“That would be wise, yes.” Thranion said, sitting up straighter to get a better look at the map, “This is the general area, yeah? How bad is the terrain? From what we saw it was fairly covered in some areas.”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Yeah," Mike said. "That red square is Ryker's property, and the dot is his base. We're up north of him, over here. The terrain is completely forested, but the ground itself is pretty clear and easy to get across. The only cover is the ferns, though, so it'll be hard to get close without being seen. With that in mind, we were thinking of going in after dark, maybe a little past midnight, so we can have the element of surprise. The attack will probably go long past dawn, but hopefully we can have the kids out and the base effectively trashed before midday. We may not have a second chance at this, so we don't want to tire out our troops before we're done."

@ElderGod-Carrots

“What about Ryker’s troops? How many men does he have? We might be a sizeable force but if this guy has more then that then we might be screwed. Yes, we have over a hundred magic users but… your friends with Tanrial, you know that after a while it becomes tiring, exhausting.” Thranion crossed his arms with a small sigh.
(Sorry I wasn’t on much, family stuff and school was busy today. Seeya ^^)

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(np, I probably won't be on much today either)
Mike nodded. "Yeah, she told us. That's one of the reasons will have to be really strategic about this and use what we have to our absolute best advantage. Ryker was very secretive about the amount of soldiers he employed, but from what we saw and heard, I estimate his force to be around two-fifty, maybe a little more. That gives us a fair margin over him, but on the downside we'll be less coordinated and we all have different ranges of specialty–not to mention a real high potential for conflict in our own ranks since we have no clear chain of command. We'll have to work together smoothly if we want to make our numbers count for anything. So, that brings me to my first question: what's everyone's specialty when it comes to combat? What are your troops best at?"
"Close-quarters over water," Polla volunteered. "But we can fight easily on land as well. We use pikes, blades, and bows once in a while."
"Great. Thanks. How about you, Thranion?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

(Okay)
"Most are more long range fighters, bows and such. With the magic it's harder to use in close combat in fear of injuring one of our own. We do have soldiers who specialised it close combat fighting and magic so that can be used. We don't have many of them, though." Thranrion replied.
"Most of my men are close combat fights, mainly blades but we have a few guns we can use." James said, shrugging.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"I'm only one guy," Rick piped up, "But I can use both long-range and close-quarters tactics. I got plenty of guns and I'm pretty good at hand-to-hand."
"Any good with a knife?"
"Oh, acourse."
"Great. Trouble?"
"We don't use guns," she replied, "But we're good with pretty much anything else. Sneak attacks are what we're best at."
"Good. Dane?"
Dane sat up proudly. "My soldiers specialize in night attacks and we mostly use close-quarters combat with blades and small-caliber firearms. Everyone is trained to handle at least two weapons and to understand both verbal commands and hand-signals. I and the team of commanders under me even have a set of two-way radios we use to stay coordinated on the battlefield."
Mike brightened. "You have radios? That'll be beyond useful. Between that and telepathy, we should be able to talk to each other pretty well." He paused, thinking hard. "All right, magic users, question–can you do magic on a target without being able to see it?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

Thranion sighed a little, "Short answer, yes. Some of us can."
"You brought some of the Night Stalkers, didn't you?" Tanrial narrowed her eyes at Thranion who nodded.
"Yes, I thought their skills would be useful and it turns out, they might need to be used."
(Sorry I wasn't active today, was super busy ^^)

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial sighed, “They are… a special race of Eyvn. Born blind, they use thermal vision and some form of night vision to help them hunt without being able to see. Apart from that, they use this kind of energy we call Stalker Energy, it’s like darkness only it can basically desintegrarte a person in a second.”
“They’re super deadly, powerful and I wouldn’t reccomend going anywhere near them unless you’re with one of us.” Thranion added.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(sorry I'm late)
"Okay. So…" Mike scratched his chin and stared at the map for a minute. "Okay….so the basic plan so far seems to be: After midnight we sneak in, make a ruckus and try to draw them out, then bring in the 'dozer–did I tell you guys we found a bulldozer?–and dig out the back while they're distracted. Then we find the kids, round 'em up, and get out. Once we're clear we can collapse the base so they can't use it anymore. Oh, and somewhere in there we can deal with Ryker. Any questions or objections so far?"

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

The others nodded as well. Mike glanced at Thranion again. "So before we launch the attack, what would be really nice is if we had a better idea of what's gonna be underneath us. These Night Stalkers…can they see through things enough to maybe get a visual of the base and its contents? If not, do we have any magic-users here who could do something like that? You know…like X-ray vision or something?"
