Blaine dodged the swipe to her side, but she dropped when Andion swept his leg at her. She scrambled to her feet again, breathing hard. Adrenaline rushed through her blood, causing her eyes to glitter.
Blaine dodged the swipe to her side, but she dropped when Andion swept his leg at her. She scrambled to her feet again, breathing hard. Adrenaline rushed through her blood, causing her eyes to glitter.
Andion grinned at her and waited for her to make the next move. He began to slowly circle her as he waited.
Blaine followed Andion's movements with her eyes. When he was almost all the way around her, she swept at his stomach again.
Andion jumped back and after a moment or so, kicked at the others stomach.
Blaine fell on her back and got the wind knocked out of her. She scrunched her eyes shut and tried to focus on breathing.
"I give," she said with a hoarse voice, raising her hand.
"Sorry." Andion muttered helping her up.
The kids all looked wide eyed at them both, "That was great!" One of them called from the back of the group.
"Ya really know how to sweep a girl off her feet," Blaine muttered jokingly, shooting him a quick smile to show she was okay.
"I'd like to see some of you try something like that," she called, her voice softer than before. "Or all of you. But the more the merrier."
Most of the older kids nodded enthusiastically and paired up ready to fight. A couple of the younger ones decided to join them but not many.
"Anyone who isn't fighting can clean equipment," Blaine called to the kids with a smirk.
The kids groaned and all took up stance, not wanting to clean equipment.
"Ready and… begin!" Andion called and the kids started to fight.
Blaine watched as the kids practiced. She circled the groups, making sure to stay far enough away that she wouldn't get hit. When she saw something someone could improve on, she pointed it out and helped them the best she could.
Andion smiled the entire time the kids practiced. They all seemed to be doing well and was glad if it. After a while, he stopped them.
"Alright, you all did pretty well. Blaine, you want to tell them the next activity?"
Blaine grinned at Andion before turning her smile to the students.
"Today we will be going out to the archery range, and you all will get to practice. As many of you may know, I'm one of the best archers here, so I hope to teach you all well," she started. "And… There will be a contest. Boys against girls, once again."
The kids cheered and Andion laughed, "Alright alright, calm down. Let's get going then." He said and the kids pretty much dragged him and Blaine to the archery range.
Blaine laughed as they were dragged away. Once they arrived, she picked up a bow and a quiver of arrows.
"If anyone doesn't know which bow to use, come see me and I'll help you," she offered.
A few younger ones headed over to Kasey while the older ones grabbed bows for themselves and made small conversation with Andion while they waited.
Blaine gladly helped the kids get bows and quivers full of arrows. Once that was done, she called everyone over for a demonstration. She showe d them how to hold the bow, how to draw the string back correctly, and how to nock their arrows, then released her shot.
Bullseye.
The kids murmured their awes and excitement about how she really was one of the best archers that this place had and couldn't wait to have their turn.
"Can we have a go?" One of the kids asked.
"Of course! That is why we're here, after all," Blaine said with a grin. "Everybody line up with a target and show me what you can do."
They did as told and lined up. After a moment, they fired their shots. Most, managed to hit the target somewhere but a couple of the little ones didn't do so well.
"Great job, guys! Try again, and let's see how many people can hit the target," Blaine called.
They nocked another arrow into the bow and aimed once more, this time all of them hitting the target. One of the older boys managed to hit the bullseye.
"Hey, congratulations! Maybe some more if you can hit the bullseye. Come on, girls! Don't let those boys show you up!" Blaine encouraged with a smirk.
This motivated them and they tried again, taking more time to aim. Quite a few hit the bullseye this time, although more boys then girls.
"All right, I think that's enough practice," Blaine declared. "Bows for the real fun. Boys against girls, and whichever side shoots more than the other wins."
"Is there a time limit?" One of the children asked, looking from the targets to Blaine.
"I'll give you… Five minutes," Blaine said.
They all nodded and took up starting positions, waiting for Blaine to tell them to start.
"Ready… Set… Begin!" Blaine called with a grin.
The kids shot furiously, trying their best to hit the bullseyes or at least somewhere on the target. Most of the older children hit the target every time, the younger ones varied but did fairly well.
