Liam looked over and chucked, “What’s got you all upset?” He asked, walking towards his door.
Liam looked over and chucked, “What’s got you all upset?” He asked, walking towards his door.
“Radio was on a country station.” Zackary slunk over to stand next to Liam.
Liam laughed a bit more, “Country not to your liking then.” He said as he unlocked the door.
“Obviously.” Zackary rolled his eyes, straightening his posture again.
Liam smiled and shook his head as he opened the door, “Sorry ‘bout the mess.” He said, kicking his shoes off and hanging his jacket up.
Zackary shrugged and rubbed his shoes on the mat before taking them off. “It’s still a nice place.”
“Eh, it’s as good as I could afford guess.” Liam said, flicking on a light to reveal a mess of sheet music and notes scattered across a couple tables and counters.
Zackary looked at them curiously. “You write music? What do you play?”
Liam rubbed his neck, “Oh uh… acoustic guitar. And before you say anything I know it’s cheesy. I know.”
Zackary raised his eyebrows a little but didn’t mention it. “You write music for a living?”
“Not for a living, no. Scientist is what I do for a living, music is just a hobby, I’m not good enough for it to be a career.” Liam replied, shrugging.
“Oh, right,” Zackary hummed gently, trying to cover the fact he forgot the other’s proffession. “Well, it’s great to know you have a genuine hobby. You should play for me sometime.”
Liam shrugged and leaned against the countertop, turning slightly red at the mention of playing for someone, “Yeah, maybe.”
“Maybe? You should.” Zackary grinned and looked around. “Should we go sit… get this started?”
Liam smirked and pushed off the counter, walking over to Zackary, "Get what started?" He purred, "Me playing? Sure, why not." He said, walking away to grab his guitar.
Zackary shrugged. “Not what I meant, but hey, I’ll listen.” Zackary plopped down on his couch.
"I'll play a few chords, then we can get on to what you wanted." Liam said, sitting down next to the other, guitar in hand.
Zackary curled his legs into his body with a smile. “Alright, go ahead.”
Liam took a breath and started to play. Not much but it was something. He didn't sing but he hummed quietly to the tune of the song, a small smile on his face as he did so.
Zackary grinned a little too, enjoying the voice of the guitar and the other’s humming. Together it sounded like… well, Zackary couldn’t pin down what it meant, but it souded nice.
After a few minutes of playing, Liam finished and rubbed at his neck, "Well… there. Nothing good but…"
Zackary smiled a little. "It sounded great. How long have you been playing?"
Liam shrugged, "A while, can't remember how long really."
Zackary hummed gently. "Cool. You sound really good." He smiled.
"Thanks, now… what was it you wanted to do again?" Liam asked, raising a brow.
Zackary shrugged. "Whatever you want." When Liam was playing he realized how selfish he was being, and regretted it.
"What's wrong?" Liam asked, noticing the change in the others expression as he stood to place his guitar away.
Zackary hummed once more. "Nothing. Do you want to do anything?"
Liam shrugged, "We could just watch a film? I've got popcorn somewhere." He suggested.
Zackary nodded. "Sounds great! But I don't want to eat months old popcorn."
