"Anyone else have an idea? I don't want Lenny to hurt herself," Avery asked.
"Anyone else have an idea? I don't want Lenny to hurt herself," Avery asked.
Vaughn considered an option, but in the end went against it. He didn’t need to get his demon contact in trouble with the Flame.
"Dylan? Vaughn? Nothing?" Avery looked back and forth between them. "C'mon, guys. I don't want Lenny to have to do this if it'll hurt."
"Its our only option. I've done it before; I can do it again." she said with a determined look.
Avery looked at Lenny in shock. "You've crossed the ocean before using your powers?"
Lenny nodded. "I lived in England my whole life." she lied. "Some people figured out about my powers and I had to make an escape to the states." she explained.
Dylan thought about it…and the dumbest idea came to his mind. It would help him, at least, and lighten the load for Lenny, "If we cross at night, I might be able to take myself."
Lenny glanced at him. "That could work." she said with a shrug. "But really, I can take you."
"How would you do that?" Avery asked, her eyebrows furrowed.
(I was TEN seconds too late…)
( wait who )
( lol! )
“Just so it’s not as hard for Element,” Vaughn chimed in, “I can take myself.” He finished making the past and warmed up a bit of sauce. He set the food down onto the table and set out silverware.
Dylan turned to Avery, "I would have to look long and hard at the blueprints to a plane or a fast boat. Or design my own. Then automate all the bits in my head, and voila."
Avery blinked at Dylan. "You can do that?" she asked curiously. "How? With your shadow-forming?"
"Most likely," Dylan responded, not exactly convinced, "I would like to try it before hand. But, I have replicated my motorcycle before, fully working. Maybe this'll work as well?"
"That's so cool! I could get Oscar to find us a blueprint, if you'd like," offered Avery.
"Guys, wouldn't that take to long? Honestly, I can take you." said Element, standing.
Dylan raised an eyebrow, "We won't be leaving till at least tonight either way. I don't know about you all, but I'm kinda dead, and that pasta Vaughn made us looks really good." He smiled appreciativly at his host before turning back to Lenny, "and regardless of whether or not my idea works, you'll need to save your strength."
"I agree. I'll get Oscar to print out some blueprints right now," Avery stated.
Lenny narrowed her eyes. He's not bossing you around. she reminded herself. She sat back down in the chair, and continued through the lap top.
"Nothing terribly oversized!" Dylan called after her, "we don't wanna draw a crowd."
To Lenny he whispered, "Xelnarin's family." Then he ran off to join Avery, without a hint of explanation. Lenny knew what he meant, and he didn't want to explain.
Vaughn’s jaw clenched at Dylan’s smile and he nodded in response. He didn’t sit down to eat with them. The pills that used to make him feel at peace now just made him feel sick to his stomach. He leaned back against a counter and glanced around the room, watching out the window warily.
"Fine," Avery agreed, making her way out to the car. "Hey, Oscar, could you look up some simple airplane blueprints? And have them ready to view by the time I get there."
"Sure thing. Coming right up," Oscar said.
Avery reached the silver Mustang and climbed into the driver's seat. Some of the blueprints were ready when she got there, so she glanced at them. Looking out, she saw Dylan coming and smiled.
Element let out a breath and banged her head on the table twice.
Vaughn watched Element and almost laughed. “You and me both,” He said, running a hand through his hair.
Element groaned in response, and continued clicking away on the lap top.
"Heya, Avery!" Dylan called as he ran towards her. He stopped on the other side of Oscar, leaning over the hood, "How are you holding up? I mean, considering the last 48 hours…"
Avery shrugged. "I'm fine," she said simply, trying to hide her slight annoyance from earlier. She didn't like being kept in the dark about things, but she knew that it was sometimes for the best. "C'mon in. You can look at the blueprints with me and figure out which one will be best."
“I should go talk to my contact.. He would be able to help with the whole transporting. It’d be hard to take all of us,” Vaughn said slowly, standing up straight.
