Lilah clicked her tongue. "Yeah, but there are still a few servent a who mill around."
Lilah clicked her tongue. "Yeah, but there are still a few servent a who mill around."
Cameron glanced down at her. “You can be that way. I on the other hand will enjoy myself and be wet and cold afterwards. But not miserable.”
"Cam, come on. You'll get the car all wet," Lilah laughed.
“It’s either that or muddy.” He looked thoughtful. “Or I could walk back.”
"Or… You could just not get dirty…?" Lilah said with a shrug.
Cameron made a face. “Who needs cleanliness?”
"Me," Lilah laughed. "If you haven't noticed, there are a lot of times I can't afford to be messy."
Cameron gazed at her, almost dog-like, actually, the exact moment you’re telling the dog not to do something, but the dog is ready to do it anyway. The mud squelched under him.
Lilah raised an eyebrow. She knew that look. She had helped train a dog, of course.
"Cameron…" she said, her voice lowered in warning.
Cameron grinned a little, adding to his dog-like look. “What? I’m not… doing… anything…” He slowly slunk down to the muddy ground.
"Oh my gosh," Lilah laughed. "Am I dealing with three dogs now?"
Cameron gave her a sly grin and plopped down in the mud. It squelched disgustingly.
"Cameron!" Lilah exclaimed, laughing.
Cameron shifted, grinning. “Yes?” He asked this sarcastically as the mud slunk delightfully through his clothes.
"Ugh. You cannot get into my car dirty or wet…" Lilah sighed, rolling her eyes good-naturedly.
“I’ll walk, then.” Cameron beamed.
"It'll take you, like, half an hour…" Lilah pointed out.
“Cool.” Cameron grinned. “I’ll suffer.”
"Whyyyyyyy?" Lilah groaned, burying her face in her hands to hide her smile.
“I like suffering. Especially if it has to do with mud, stiff pants and heat exaustion.”
"Are you trying to make me feel bad?" Lilah asked, peeking out from between her fingers. "Because it's not working."
“No, I’m not! I just like walking!” Cameron beamed.
"You are such a dork sometimes," Lilah laughed, pulling her hands away from her face.
Cameron flopped back into the muddy puddle. “Yep. A nerd who loves mud.”
Lilah nudged him with the toe of her shoe.
"You're setting a bad example for the dogs," she said in mock seriousness.
Cameron shrugged. “Have them come over here and they can be dirty too.”
"If you want to take Lily on that half-hour walk with you, be my guest, but you're going to have to spray her down with the house before she steps a paw inside," Lilah declared with a half-smirk. "And Lilac is riding with me, so she's not getting dirty."
Cameron rolled over onto his face, revealing his entire back covered in the grime. It was apparent he wasn’t paying much attention.
"Cameron." Lilah nudged him with the toe of her shoe again. "Were you even listening to me?"
(You know what would be funny?)
(What?)
Cameron waved a hand and flopped his arm back down with a squish. He didn’t stirr anything else.
