My favorite scene of dialogue in my story so far:

"Sixteen?” Al said, lurching forward in shock.

She shrugged. “Yeah.” She was trying to keep calm, feign nonchalance.

“You’re practically a baby!”

“Not really.”

“Yes- yes you are! You are a child! You are too young for this shit! Oh my God, I’ve offered you alcohol!”

“I didn’t take it.”

“I tried to give a baby alcohol!”

“I’m sixteen, not six!”

“You’re tiny!”

“I’m not!”

“You really are our kid!”

She rolled her eyes. “Sure, Al.”

((Note: Al is drunk, and assumed she was at least 18))
