"You're alive…" Amber said, reaching out to touch Anna just to make sure.
"You're alive…" Amber said, reaching out to touch Anna just to make sure.
Anna shrugged awkwardly. "I, uh, yeah. I didn't- die in the first place?" She looked unsure at Sami, who seemed to be rehearsing something in her head.
Michael rested his hand Anna's shoulder "the specifics do not matter, you are alive. That is what matters"
"Yeah! That's a good thing too. We need as many people as we can get to defeat these guys in gold armor." Amber added.
"Which is why," Kira spoke slowly, still looking at Anna, "we need to go back to my kingdom and get troops. Michael," She turned to him. "you can tell your soldire friends, I can tell my father, and we can get going. After that, we never see eachother again and I'm good."
Michael nods "what will you do?" he pauses "If we win"
(who is Michael asking?)
(who is Michael asking?)
(Kira)
"When we win, I will return to my tower for the rest of my days- that is, until I inherit the crown. If all goes well, I will never see any of you again." Kira looked at Shen. "Ever again." She turned to Anna suspiciously, a staring contest. Kira tried to brake her, tried to dig past the barrier in her eyes, but to no avail. "We leave in the morning to go get troops from my father."
Amber nodded. She hated to admit it but she had grown a little attached to this princess, despite their rough beginnings. "What about when you're queen and go parading around town?"
"Oh, right." Kira had already thought this part of the plan out. "I'll take care of that."
Sami didn't really know what that was supposed to mean. She could tell that Kira was suspicious, and rightfully so. Sami tried not to look to guilty and fiddled with the hem of her tunic. Knowing her, she probably failed miserably and looked even more guilty than before.
Amber shrugged. "Alright… if you say so."
Kira turned on what was left of her heel. "Then let's go." She shot a look at Sami and Anna. "If you have nothing to report."
Amber looked intently to Anna and Sami. Did they have anything to report?
Sami narrowed her eyes. "I'm not a soldier. I don't report."
"She's right. Just because you're royalty doesn't make in charge." Amber crossed her arms.
Kira smirked. Foolish girls. "Right. Tell me that again when we get back to the palace."
"We're not in the palace now though, are we?" Amber responded, tartly.
"No. But we are still in my kingdom."
Michael hesitates. if he stepped in they would only get angry with him; Anna and Amber would be angry at him for defending the princess and the princess would get angry for him stepping out of his place. He found himself thinking back to when he was first assigned to the princess.
"Don't speak unless spoken to," his master reminded him. "Don't move unless ordered to, if she does not acknowledge you; you are not there." Michael nods as they approach the courtyard; the princess stands near the center of it. she is beautiful; in a royal way of course. The master gestures for Michael to approach her, all Michael can think about his how hypocritical that order feels. He approaches the princess anyway. The princess seemed to be doing something, but she wasn't she was just standing there. Michael came to a stop behind her and took a knee.
"if she does not acknowledge you; you are not there" his master's words vibrated in Michael's mind forcing him not to say a word. He takes a peek up at the princess who hasn't even turned to acknowledge him. Maybe this is a test he considers, lowering his head again. He stays like this for at least ten minutes, the princess has barely moved; her arms seem to be the only part of her body moving. she is doing something with her hair. A man steps into the otherwise empty courtyard; Michael notices immediately and locks eyes with the man, he is bulky and appears quite northern; Michael's's eyes drop to the sword in the man's hand covered with blood. He turns to the princess to see she has noticed the man as well. What should he do? Michael grabs the hilt of his sword as the man starts to approach. The princess has merely turned her head towards the man. Do something! Michael mentally shouts at her. The man breaks into a run. Wait; what if this is just a test, she's testing the loyalty she wants him to stay still. Michael's grip tightens on his hilt, his hand shaking, the man is upon her swinging his sword in a wide deadly arc. The princess took a step back, Michael lunged forward tackling the man to the ground. Michal disarms the man and turns to face the princess; she nods and walks away. Michael quickly follows after her.
He'd been following her ever since. Michael stared at Kira's back as she glared at the girls.
"Michael. You've been awfully quiet. You must have an opinion on this." Amber said in a lighter tone.
"Yes, Michael. Do tell us you're opinion on this matter." Kira stated, challengingly.
Sami pursed her lips. She didn't know how Anna felt about all this, but Sami sure wasn't planning on reporting. "Thanks Kira, but no thanks. You guys left Anna and I alone outside that fort to fend for ourselves, a cripple and someone who was bleeding out. After that, you'll have to forgive me for not exactly being inclined to follow you back to your palace. And there are plenty of other kingdoms that I can take residence in." She turned to Anna. "I don't know what your opinion is, but you are welcome to join me."
Sami's chest hurt at the thought that Anna would leave her, but Anna's didn't look all that prompted to go with her either. She looked torn, but she was regarding the situation with an air of distaste.
"I agree with Sami." Anna said. Sami breathed a silent sigh of relief. She wasn't alone in all this.
Sami saw Michael behind Kira, shadowing her. He looked as if he wanted to exert his opinion. Sami felt bad for him. He probably thought that he would get yelled at by Kira if he spoke out of turn. A fresh wave of anger for the princess clouded her senses. She wrestled to get in control of her emotions before she lost control of her magic. Sami didn't care if someone was a lower rank than you. You should never treat someone like that, especially to the point that they think their opinion is no longer valid. Sami pitied this kingdom if that was it's next ruler.
Michael shakes his head slightly "The princess' opinion is my opinion"
"I see. You never think for yourself?" Amber said, now curious.
"Is that not perfect loyalty?" Michael defends "A knight thinking for themself would slow down the group effort"
"I suppose." Amber said, dropping the subject.
(um, what do i do now? you guys have to come with me so everyone can die, remember?)
"Fine. Leave. Be hunted down by golden warriors for even looking at me. Go. Die."
