"Oh, Madi," Fox sighed, crossing the room. He took the puppy from her arms and set him on the ground. Embracing her, he murmured into her hair, "It'll be okay. You'll be okay. He's in a better place, now."

Tears spilled from her eyes as she closed them. She firmly wrapped her arms around Fox hugging him as tight as she could.

Fox stroked her hair in silence. She needed to cry, to grieve. He couldn't say anything that would help her.

Madison continued to sob soaking Fox's shirt. "He was gone before I got there" Madison said.

"I'm so sorry, Madi," Fox whispered hoarsely.

Madison slowly pulled away From Fox's embrace. "It's not your fault" She said.

"But if I had let you go sooner you might have been able to say goodbye…" Fox trailed off, looking down.

" Fox it's not your fault" She reassured him. " You didn't know".

"I know," Fox sighed. "Why don't. We take this puppy on a walk?"

Madison smiled which is the first time she smiled in the last couple hours. " Okay" Madison said and nodded in agreement.

"What's its name?" Fox asked, releasing his wife to look at the puppy.

Madison smiled gently. "Damien" Madison said.

"Cute. Where should we walk to?" Fox asked.

"The park" she said. she then looked at her new puppy.

"All right. The park it is," Fox said as he grabbed Madison's hand gently.

Madison smiled gently and squeezed his hand. As she did that the puppy started barking as loud as he could.

Fox looked down at Damien and picked him up, hoping it would quiet him.

"Hey, you. We're going on a walk. You want to come?"

Damien stuck his tongue out and wagged his tail.

Madison smiled "your the cutest thing ever" Madison said.

"Why, thank you. I know I am," Fox said with a grin, knowing full and well that she had been talking about the dog.

Madison slowly turned her head towards Fox. "You have issues, " Madison said and shook her head playfully.

"Hey! I was joking. If anything, you're the cute on in this marriage. And Damien is the cute pet."

Madison Blushed and rolled her eyes. "Whatever you say" not bothering to argue.

"Well, how about we go in that walk now, yeah?" Fox smiled.

Madison took Damien from Fox. " let's go" she said and walked out the door.

Fox slipped his shoes and a coat on before following his wife out the door. He locked it behind himself and caught up to Madison.

She looked back at Fox. "Took you long enough" Madison teased her huband.

"Hey, you were already ready to go. I, on the other hand, wasn't expecting to go on a walk."

"You asked me if I wanted to take Damien on a walk," Madison said with a laugh.

"Yes, but I wasn't ready when you walked out the door," Fox chuckled.

Madison stuck her tongue out at Fox and blew a Rasberry.
