"Sounds like a plan." She knew someone who could get her to relax just by telling her to. Ryan. She wasn't sure why or how but he could always get her to relax instantly. His voice, his smile, his eyes, his touch, anything.

Lillian's smile faded away, "Not right now."
“What donyiu mean? Is everything okay?”
"Nothing's wrong! Just old memories surfacing that I really don't need right now."

“I won’t force you to stay with me,” he said quietly. “I’m sorry that I’m the only thing left to remind you of your past,”
"To be honest, I'm not completely sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing." She muttered.
(And there was one…)
(Two)
"To be honest, I'm not completely sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing." She muttered.
“It seems like you think of it as a bad thing,”
Lillian's smile faded away, "Not right now."
“What donyiu mean? Is everything okay?”
"Nothing's wrong! Just old memories surfacing that I really don't need right now."
“Okay,” he threw his hands up in defense, “Sorry,”
(AND THEN THERE WERE TWO!)
Lillian sighed as she buried her head in her hands, "Don't be. I'm all over the place, I need to get it back together."

“Okay,” he sighed as he leaned over and kissed her cheek.
Lillian was internally grateful for the small gesture, but her body wasn't ready for it as it recoiled away. These memories held too much power over her at the moment.
Darren sighed as he looked away. “I’m sorry,” he said quietly.
Lillian let out a sigh. She rubbed at her eyes hiding the tears beneath, "Later."
It was hard for him to express how he felt without touching her, it’s just how he was whether that meant a kiss to the cheek or a touch to her hand, it was difficult to show how he felt or to make her feel any better.
Lillian felt her emotions in a turmoil within. The way she was abused by her mom, her dad. The things that happened, and the things that almost did. Her mind kept replaying one moment though, a moment that happened every year, on the same day, around the same time, and she was shaking heavily. Stop. Stop it. GO AWAY!
“Lillian, you’re okay,” he tried to touch her hand softly.
Lillian grabbed his hand sharply. She was safe, that's what Darren was trying to tell her. Darren, he was here. He was safe. He wouldn't hurt her, he wouldn't let him hurt her. She was nowhere near him anyway. She felt her shaking slowly decline.
“I love you,” he gave her hand a little squeeze, hoping that she felt safe.
Lillian nodded, squeezing his hand back. Her eyes closed, "I-I love you."
“Would it be better if we went somewhere else?”
“N-No. It’s not the s-spot. It’s me,” Lillian said each word a struggle to get out. She was still drowning, but recovering.
“Okay. We can always go home if you need to. Just so you know,”
‘Home’ the word sent a tremor through her body before she reigned herself back in, “Can we go there? Please.”
“Of course,” he started the car and drove towards home one handedly, not letting go of her hand until they pulled in the driveway.
Lillian had herself mostly under control. She was grateful Darren let go but wanted to scream at him for reckless driving. Lillian knew they had to let go in order to get out, but she didn’t want to.
He circled around and opened the door for her. “We can just go and relax a bit,”
Lillian nodded as she got out. Reaching for his hand immediately. It was her anchor, her reminder nothing in her head was real.
