Halo couldn't reply, only hold onto John. A loud hiss filled the caves, an unknown thudding noise. He was so scared. There was a low growl before all the noises ceased. "J-john? What's happening?" he whispers, fear in his voice.
Halo couldn't reply, only hold onto John. A loud hiss filled the caves, an unknown thudding noise. He was so scared. There was a low growl before all the noises ceased. "J-john? What's happening?" he whispers, fear in his voice.
John turned his head, trying to drag both himself and Halo toward the edge of the cave, near his sword. Or at least to get some kind of cover. John gripped Halo’s hand tightly, “Don’t worry, I got you, we’re gonna be okay,” He whispered, yet his paranoid eyes still searched the darkness of the cave. Too dark.
Halo helps him drag both their body's, fear taking over his chest. He was so scared. He clings to John once in a safe hiding spot. His breathing seemed to be uneven and shallow, his hands holding onto John's tightly in fear as he's held, he was shivering. A loud roar sounded through the cave and he squeaks.
John flinched, but his sword was finally in reach. He yanked it close, then shifting to the side so Halo was between him and the cave wall. He slowly stood, looking back once at Halo, “I love you. I’ll protect you, I promise.” John took a shaky breath. Here he was, standing in nothing but his boxers, holding a sword ready to face whatever was in the darkness of the cave.
Halo holds John. "N-no… Don't risk it." he says softly, shaking his head. He was trembling and holding John. The roar was louder this time and he winces, holding the other closer. "I can't lose you." He whispers.
“You won’t lose me,” John assured, but wasn’t sure if it was the truth, “I trained in the army, remember? Now stay safe, if you get the chance to get out, I want you to run. We can meet up nearby if something happens, alright?” John brushed a hand through Halo’s hand, kissing him once. Twice. Another roar forced him to turn forward and clutch his sword tightly. Just keep Halo safe.
Halo shakes his head, "I'm staying." He says softly. "I can heal you while you fight." He explains, smiling at the kisses. He refused to run. Besides, John had a better chance if they fought together. He takes John's hand. "We're facing this together."
John was about to protest further, but… he was afraid. He didn’t want to face this alone. He didn’t want to be alone anymore. So John gave Halo’s hand a small squeeze, readying his swords and gulping, “Alright. I- I love you.”
Halo nods and squeezes his hand in reply. "I love you too." He whispers, kissing Johns cheek. The monster crawls into the space. It was a gnarled and hunched over thing, dripping in what seemed to be black glop. Its clawed hands were curled and clawed. It had no eyes, but that didn't mean it couldn't smell the others. It gave a low growl and Halo winces.
John tensed at the appearance of the thing, holding his sword point towards it, “What on earth…?” He tried to calm his breathing, like before a big battle, but this was different. This wasn’t human.
Halo gulps softly. "I don't know, but it's freaking me out." He whispers, watching the creature with wide and scared eyes. He looks up at John. "We can do this."
John squared his stance, pointing his sword at the beast. As soon as it moved, as soon as it lunged, John would be ready. He wouldn’t dare let that thing even touch Halo.
Halo watches the beast carefully. It was slow, yes, but by the look of the goop, it seemed to move on its own, slithering and twisting around the beast. His eyes narrow, watching the beast like a hawk.
John shifted his stance slightly, trying to put Halo slightly behind his shoulder. If the beast lunged, John could take the blow. He slowly whispered to the guardian, “Let’s try and walk out of the cave, slowly. Maybe it won’t attack.”
Halo nods, "Its a far distance, but maybe one we-" He starts. The creature had frozen in its tracks, tilting its ugly head towards the sound of their voices. It growled lowly, the black substance becoming agitated.
“Run, we have to run now,” John whispered in a panic, tensing up and starting to go for the exit. He didn’t dare turn from the beast, pointing his sword out like a spear. Adrenaline started coursing through him and his breathing quickened as he watched the beast.
Halo nods, firmly grabbing Johns shoulders. "Hold on," he whispers, spreading his wings. He gulps softly watching as the beast slowly starts towards them. With a powerful flap of his wings, they were in the air, above the beast. He gulps, and starts to fly towards the exit. He hears a loud shriek, and angered one as the beast chases after them. It kept up with his speed, making his eyes widen.
John clung to Halo, fear striking him like a whip. When the beast charged like that… “Halo-“ He tightened his grip, yet tried to not hinder the guardian’s flight too much. Gosh, what is that thing?
Halo doesn't say anything. He sees the opening of the cave. Almost there. He tosses John out of the cave just as he feels black glop wrapping around his leg. He shrieks in denial, flapping his wings. Everything was moving so fast. He cries out in pain as four claws dig into his pale skin, and blood drips down his chest. He manages to get into the sunlight and the creature releases him, yowling as the sun burns it.
John tumbled to the ground, looking widely for Halo. Gosh, when he saw that blood- He lunged towards Halo hands almost shaking. Dead dead dead dead- “Halo, Halo, Halo, be okay, be okay,” John took the other’s face within his hands, before frantically looking at the wound. He pressed his hand into the guardian’s chest without warning, putting pressure on the wound because he didn’t have anything to wrap it with, “Halo, oh gosh, Halo,”
Halo was choking a little, sobbing as he bleeds, his eyes opening. He was so scared, so so scared. He whimpers as he's taken into John's grasp. "John…" He whispers, over and over again, his wings fluttering weakly. It hurt. Oh it hurt. Fire seemed to be coursing through his veins, as he shakes and cries. He cries out loudly when John places pressure on the wound. He knew he was going to live. It didn't mean that it hurt like hell. He sobs and shakes his head, "John it hurts. It hurts!" He sobs, shaking his head.
“I know, I know, you’re okay, you’re going to be okay,” John breathed, pressing his forehead against Halo’s, “I’m stopping the bleeding, you’ll be okay, you’ll be okay. I’m sorry, gosh I’m so sorry… Halo, you were so brave.” John felt like his hands weren’t his own, they worked only on instinct to help Halo.
Halo cries softly, shaking a little in John's grasps. He felt so weak. He was in pain. It hurt so much. He let's John work, slowly calming down. He whimpers softly, silent tears running down his face, shivering and shaking in pain, not wanting to move.
It broke John bit by bit every second Halo was in so much pain. This was his fault, if he would’ve done something more- “Halo, gosh, can I do anything? Is there some kind of herb?” John wished he had his clothes, at least to wrap up Halo’s wound, but here he was, stuck in his boxers. His shaking hands pressed a little bit more, trying desperately to stop the bleeding. Even if Halo couldn’t die… John didn’t want the other to bleed like this.
"T-there's a herb…" He gasps, shivering in pain, shaking his head as a choked sob leaves his lips. "Its a days hike though…" He mutters, shaking his head. They were only in their boxers, the healing pool was in the caves with the monster. "I'll be okay, John." He whispers breathlessly, "I'll survive. It's my job to protect you." He whispers, choking back sobs of pain.
“Well someone needs to protect you, Halo, and I failed,” John told him, taking one bloody hand to hold Halo’s face, “Gosh, I so failed,” Tears we’re streaming down John’s eyes, and he tried to focus on stopping the blood, tried to focus at anything at all instead of crying about this. If I could just get to the herb… Halo wasn’t in good enough condition for John to leave him alone.
Halo gasps and shudders, shaking his head and crying out in pain. He had tried to move, but the cuts burned angrily at him, refusing him to stand. He whimpers and shakes his head, holding onto John. He takes a trembling breath.
No, gosh no… John held Halo to him, still pressed on the wound. The blood was coagulating around the edges, which was good if it helped the blood slow. And gosh there’s so much blood… If he at least had his lighter to try and cauterize the edges… “Halo, Halo, I promise I’ll be back in a few seconds,” John took the other’s hands and pressed them against Halo’s wound, “Push on it, it’ll slow the bleeding.”
Halo whimpers, sobbing softly as the wound burns. He didn't like it. It hurt a lot. But he was glad he had gotten clawed and not John. John might be dead if he did. He shakes his head as John left, off to find something. He didn't want to be alone. Not now, not next to the cave with the dreaded monster alone. He presses his hands to the wound as ordered and bites his lip, trying his hardest not to cry anymore.
John ran frantically, trying to find what his needed. It felt like too long when he finally found all of it. He came back to Halo’s side carrying wood and tinder -a pile of dried grass. John set it up, scraping the wood back and forth near the tinder while his spoke, “This will help. I’ve done it a few times before to my comrades. You’re going to be alright.”
