"Wouldn't it..I just don't like not knowing them, it feels weird."
"Wouldn't it..I just don't like not knowing them, it feels weird."
M hummed. “I can imagine. I can write down their names for you, if you’d like.”
“You can’t just tell me?”
“Yes, but there are a lot of them. I can rattle them off if you’d like.”
“Can you?”
“Sure! Nova, Nathan, Fern, Fran, Freddie, Charlie, Elliot and Elliot, Toby, Elenore, Cormac and Thistle.”
“Elliot..and Elliot?”
“Yep. There are two Elliots. One’s a girl and the other is a boy. They had the boy after the girl once she died, but Death and Life brought her back. So Cameron and Xanthe have two kids named Elliot.”
“Oookay. Ages?”
“Uuuuum I don’t know specifically, but the way I ordered them was oldest to youngest. I know Cormac and Thistle are in their early twenties right now, but that’s about it.”
“Okay.” North nodded, thinking. “Neo said the older ones left us because they wanted to keep us safe so if Cormac and Thistle are around my age, how come I don’t know them now?”
“Because they don’t live near here. If they did, they would’ve been here a long time ago…” He trailed off with a sigh. “Xanthe and Cameron used to let me read to them… they were so bouncy and enjoyable to be around. Cormac was kind of quiet, he didn’t say his first words until he was five.” M grinned at the bitersweet memory.
North smiled sadly, wishing she knew them. “Sounds nice..”
“I could… wait… I can’t… dammit…” He sighed softly, feeling a wave of sadness at the restraint of the dimension.
“It’s fine M, I have the rest of my life. I’m going inside I’m soaked.” She said, turning away.
M hummed sadly in response, gazing back up at the sky.
North went inside and showered quickly, putting her hair up and going downstairs.
Pax was rummaging around in the cabinets for a snack. He tossed away stuff such as crackers and noodles, clearly intent for chips.
North grabbed the bag off the counter and tossed it to him. “Here.”
Pax glanced over then squeaked in shock as he got hit with a bag. He picked up the chips, grinning at his own fear.
North laughed a little and sat down at the table, braiding her wet hair.
Pax sat down at his spot. “What’s up, North?” He asked brightly as he ripped open the bag.
“Nothing much, M is outside in a tree by the way.”
Pax giggled. “I know!”
(So you just died? I get that feel bro)
“Guess you’re used to it by now.” She laughed.
(Sorry I had to eat out cause my moms birthday.)
“Yeah, and he always comes in soaked, brushing off the fact he might get hypothermia or something.” Pax gave a brief sigh.
“He says he feels different..”
“Different? He’s… going through some changes at the moment… I’d imagine he does feel off.”
