"Someone used him to try to get to Kinesie. She asked us to bring him here for her. Please, can you help?" Harper asked, still holding Liam.
Kasey bit her lip as she looked at Liam, holding his hand gently. What Harper had said was technically the truth, but little did the doctors know, Kinesie was in the room with them, desperately hoping they could save her boyfriend.
"My… yes, yes we can try and help." She said.
The man from before had arrived with a team of people and a surgical bed. One of the men on the team, gently but hurriedly took Liam from Harper and placed him on the bed. Without missing a beat, they started wheeling him away. The woman lingered a moment.
"We'll take care of him, don't worry." She gave them a small smile before following the group.
Harper turned to Kasey, who had started to pace again. "Hey. You need a hug?" he asked quietly.
Kasey nodded, and Harper opened his arms. She walked over and leaned against him, the older wrapping his arms around the younger. He rubbed her back as she buried her face in his shoulder.
"It'll be all right. The doctors will fix him up," Harper murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the top of his sister's head. Kasey nodded silently, and she was still shaking from earlier.
It was a few hours later when the woman from earlier came out to the waiting area to find the pair who had brought her patient in. He had been in pretty bad shape but luckily, they’d fixed pretty much all of his wounds.
Once she spotted them, she walked over.
Kasey rose from the couch she had been sitting beside Harper in.
"Is he okay? Can I see him?" she asked, wringing her hands.
“He’s still sleeping but he should wake up soon,” The woman said, “But yes, you can see him.”
She led the girl into the room where her patient was sleeping.
"Thank you," Kasey quietly said to the doctor before she friend back to Liam. She bit her lip as she sat in the chair beside his bed, gently placing a hand on his arm. "Please get better soon," she whispered.
There was a slight move in Liam’s arm when Kasey touch it. It didn’t take long after that for his eyes to flutter open, followed by a painful groan.
“K-Kasey? What… where…”
Kasey gasped when Liam woke up. She hadn't been expecting him to be awake so soon.
"Hey. Hey, yeah, it's me. It's okay. Everything's going to be okay. You're in the hospital, remember? Harper and I brought you here," she rambled.
“Matt… the warehouse…” He muttered to himself as he remembered what had happened earlier, “Are you okay? A-Are you hurt?”
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me," Kasey assured him, giving gim a wobbly smile. "You should be more worried about yourself. I just about had a heart attack when I saw you strapped to that chair."
“I’m fine, I’ll be fine…” Liam muttered, “Did the doctor say how long I’ll be here for?”
Kasey shook her head slowly. "No, she didn't. Hopefully, not long, though. You already look better."
“I don’t feel it, everything still hurts like crazy…” He brought one hand to his head to rub at his face.
"Do you want me to ask if they can put you on pain meds if they haven't already?" Kasey asked, reaching up to gently touch Liam's face.
Liam nodded and put his hand on Kasey’s, “Yes please.”
Kasey smiled and rubbed her thumb against his cheek for a moment before standing. "I'll be right back, then," she said quietly.
The doctor from before was talking to one of her co-workers when she noticed Kasey walk out of the room. She walked over to her and smiled, “Eveything okay in there?”
"Actually, Liam's been in quite a bit of pain. Is there anything you can do to help him? Any pain medication?" Kasey asked with a polite smile.
The doctor nodded, “Of course there is. I was waiting until he was awake before giving him a proper dosage.” She said, giving her a smile before hurrying off to find the medication, returning with it shortly after.
"Thank you so much. I'm sure he'll appreciate it," Kasey said, that smile still plastered to her face. She sighed as she made her way back to Liam's room and sat down beside him again. "There's a nurse coming with something for you."
Liam hummed his approval since he didn’t have the energy to talk anymore.
The doctor came back in, a warm smile on her face as she walked over to Liam, “Here we are, it should kick in soon.” She said, putting him on the pain medication.
"Thanks again," Kasey told the nurse, smiling at her once again.
She turned back to Liam and put her hand back on his face, going back to rubbing his cheek with her thumb.
“It’s no problem.” She said, leaving the room.
Liam brought his hand up to Kasey’s holding it gently.
"You feeling any better yet?" Kasey asked softly, giving Liam a gentle smile.
“Slightly.” Liam replied quietly, “Thankyou for asking for me.”
"Of course I asked you. I care about you, Liam. A lot," Kasey said with a slight sigh.
Liam gave Kasey’s hand a squeeze, “I care about you a lot, too.”
Kasey smiled again, then sighed, closing her eyes. She was exhausted from using her powers so much, which was part of the reason she had been (and sort of still was) shaking.
"Do you know how scared I was for you?" she whispered, peeking through her eyelashes. "I was so scared, Liam…"
“Hey. Hey. it’s alright, Kasey. You saved me and that’s all that matters.” He replied, giving her a smile, “I could have been dead if it wasn’t for you.”
