Basil turned from her table to the boy at the counter and nearly choked on her scone.
Regaining her poise, she decided to play it cool. If Jamie wanted to talk to her, he would - it was too risky to mention the kwamis and all. After all, she didn't really know if this was Oxy.
Adela walked into the bakery, she had done well English, or at least Trixx had told her so, so she was using her allowance to buy a pastry. She walked in and immediately saw some of her classmates, maybe not this bakery. It was the best bakery in town though. Adela sighed and walked up to the counter.
Basil looked up to see the Spanish girl walk into the bakery. She smiled friendlily. She had few friends in the new school, especially with her vertigo, which Basil thought was really cool.
Adela looked up to one of the girls smiling at her. She gave a small smile back, two reasons why she didn't want to be near her classmates. One, her vitiligo, and two, the language barrier. Actually switch those two, language barrier comes first. She could hear and understand, but speaking was an almost no go.
(oopsies I spelled it wrong)
Basil tilted her head kindly at the girl. Perhaps…not everyone was as social as she was.
(Lol, it's fine.)
Adela felt sort of awkward with this one girl just looking at her. She muttered, "Que es la problema con mi?"
Basil knew little Spanish. "I don't understand." She said kindly.
Adela looked up at the girl and said roughly, her r's rolled, "Sorry. No speak well."
Fail.
“It’s okay. If I could get your number, I could text you.” She offered.
Adela nodded quickly as she pulled her phone out giving the girl her number, "Mi, my, name is Adela."
Jamie payed for his muffin, standing still for a moment. Where was he supposed to go? He sat down at the table next to Basil's and the other girl.. Adela, he remembered, not sure how to engage.
Louanne watched the people in the cafe. She looked at Tikki for a moment, making sure that she was out of sight.
(Can y'all wait for me next time please?)
(Sorry! I can delete my last post if you want)
(No, it's fine. I just don't like being left out. Like, leaving for a couple hours and coming back to 1 and a half new pages, if you know what I mean. Lol)
"Do we all go to the same school?" Jamie asked, glancing around at the three girls in the cafe.
Adela glanced around and nodded, "I think."
Louanne observed the three people without speaking. She knew a lot about them, just because no one ever noticed her. She knew more about each of them than they could ever guess she did, but it wasn't in a stalker way. She was just curious and shy. "I don't know," she said quietly.
Jamie snuck a piece of the muffin into his sweatshirt pocket for Bue. He leaned forward, resting his chin on his hand. "Basil, Louanne, and Adela, right?"
“I am Adela,” Adela responded.
"Jamie." He offered a small smile.
"Nice to meet you," Adela smiled a little. She was getting the hang of this, of course once the conversation was over she would retreat back to her home language.
Basil smiled at the two. “Yeah, I’m Basil.”
"Louanne," the shy girl introduced herself. She caught Tikki move out of the corner of her eye and motioned to her secretively for her to stay out of sight.
Jamie looked back down at the table. Something about these people seemed familiar. He was 90% sure that Basil was Queen Bee, but he couldn't place why the others gave him that feeling. Bue kicked him from inside his pocket, and Jamie failed to contain his wince. He broke off another piece of the muffin and place it inside his sweatshirt pocket.
Adela nodded and felt Trixx move around from her curly hair to her inner pocket of her jacket. She was still smiling, "We all go to the school same?"
Louanne noticed him putting the muffin into his pocket but didn't say anything. Logic connected the dots in her brain: Tikki likes sweet things; he hasn't eaten any of his muffin yet for himself; he put it in his jacket pocket; does he have a kwami? She scolded herself for thinking that way. "I… I think so," she replied to the girl. What was her name again? Ad- Adela?
"Well, this is a giant coincidence." Basil leaned back in her chair, squishing Annoyance in a split second's warning to stay hidden. Even if Jamie was Oxy and Louanne was Ladybug, there was Adela.
"Call it what you want. Fate… Destiny.." Jamie quoted, leaning back in his chair. "A horse."
