Vin made another 'o' shape and stopped patting Isthet's head. "Yeah. I had a few more questions too, but Baal's predicament it more important."
Vin made another 'o' shape and stopped patting Isthet's head. "Yeah. I had a few more questions too, but Baal's predicament it more important."
"And what would that be?" Isthet asked, though his attention seemed more focused on Baal now. The dragon felt like shrinking beneath his gaze, but he didn't
Vin noted the tension. "It… it doesn't matter. It's just stupid Demon musings."
"Nothing is stupid in my realm. All knowledge holds value here," Isthet hummed before turning his attention back towards Vin
Vin blinked a couple times. "I just… wanted to know how to get a dragon pup. That's really unspecific of the breed and stuff but…" He shrugged. "It's really irrational."
"A dragon pup?" Isthet asked, a hint of happiness working its way into his tone. "Ooh, how delightful! I know of one bumbling around here somewhere. There's always one or two the Meltwood is waiting to devour," he hummed
"Ah… yes, a dragon pup. I've been keeping an eye out for one but haven't found any signs of one. In fact, we haven't seen anything other than you. And those trees. And the licking plants…" Vin tilted his head this way and that. "I guess we have seen a lot."
"The licking plants?" Isthet laughed. "Oh, I love them so. It freaks people out most of the time, it's simply delightful."
Vin chuckled. He liked this dragon; its sadistic views tickled his demonic fancies.
"They're quite nice, though."
"I prefer not to keep them close to the mausoleum. Their saliva makes my scales stick. But it is wonderful to watch them startle newcomers," Isthet giggled
Vin laughed gently. "It is pretty great. It's probably really entertaining. Anyway, where do you think I could find a pup?"
"Mm…I would ask Temujin. She takes it upon herself to chase the pups around and keep them away from the Meltwood," Isthet answered. "She lives in a small shrine near the outskirts of Osiris."
Vin smiled and patted Isthet's snout. "Thanks! Where would we have to walk to- wait, another question, Isthet." He suddenly remembered a question that he left behind.
"What would that be?" Isthet asked, his head tilted in a curious manner again. He seemed to find the way Vin patted his snout amusing
Vin grinned. "I was wondering if I'd be able to take the pup back to my realm."
"Why of course. Granted you'd have to assure Temujin that no harm would come to it, and you must make sure to take good care of it. Dragons are very sensitive to losing one of their own to bad handling," Isthet answered
Vin blinked. He looked scandalized. "I'd never hurt a dragon!" Vin shook his head. "Sorry. So how would I get to Temujin's area?"
"Leave the way you came and then make a left away from the gate. You'll walk a while before reaching a large valley, with a gondola that seems to go through the clouds. On the other side is Temujin's shrine," the dragon instructed
Vin mouthed the instructions a couple times then nodded. "Okay! Thanks Isthet!" He gave the dragon's snout a final pat.
Isthet laughed softly before nuzzling him a bit. He then nudged them towards the exit, both heads seemingly grinning. Baal began to trot towards the exit, seemingly relieved they were finally leaving
Vin felt a small warmth in his chest, glad he managed to make the large dragon happy. Before he knew it, he and Baal were standing outside of the area.
"Well, that was fun."
"I'm amazed he told the truth," Baal grumbled once they were out of earshot of the dragon. "He's a pathological liar who enjoys toying with people. He's not even in Osiris anymore, not really. He just projects himself here because he likes messing with those that go to him for wisdom."
Vin glanced at the dragon. "What makes you think he was telling the truth?"
"Because I've been to visit Temujin before. I could have answered your question without going to him, you know," Baal huffed
Vin rolled his eyes. "You would've been all negative about it. Neheheheheh you can't do this, you can't do that."
"I wouldn't have denied you wanting to go to the sanctuary. Time passes differently here, and I was hoping to visit since we would have time here," Baal huffed indignantly
Vin rolled his eyes and fell into silence. Within a few more (what Vin could presume) minutes, they were at the doors of Temujin's shrine.
The shrine doors were enormous and ornate, and they looked old as Baal looked up at them. They were on a cliff after riding the gondola to the shrine, with the clouds swirling lazily around them. The doors seemed to have a sort of Japanese theme to them, with large knockers on the doors
Vin blinked up at it, admiring the large inscriptions and patterns. "So, do we just knock?" He asked down at Baal, not wanting to pull his gaze away from the doors.
Baal nodded. Seeing as how the knockers were too far up for Vin to reach, he hopped up onto the doors and used his large wingarms to knock before falling back to the ground. Nothing happened for a moment, though after a second the doors creaked open
