Courtney raised an eyebrow when Kitty looked a her. "Yes?"
Courtney raised an eyebrow when Kitty looked a her. "Yes?"
"Oh, I thought that we were going to the lab," Kitty said quickly.
"We were, but then you got distracted," Courtney laughed. "Let's go."
Kitty blushed. "I wouldn't call it distracted. More… sidetracked," she said with a grin.
Courtney laughed again. "No, you were distracted and attracted," she countered as she started down the hall.
Kitty smiled and followed with a "Fine." She was getting more and more used to being around Courtney.
"What? No comment on the 'attracted' part?" Courtney asked.
"I can't deny it." Kitty shrugged with an innocent look on her face.
Courtney laughed. "Gosh. This is great. You're better than my sister."
"Noted," Kitty laughed.
"My sister is so lame. She doesn't let me say stuff like that or else she gets annoyed with me…" Courtney trailed off with a frown.
"Oh. " Another text. She giggled softly again and sent an emoji before putting her phone away again.
"Yeah… So, how long have you two been dating?" Courtney asked.
"Almost 10 months now. And he still manages to make me laugh!" Kitty answered happily.
"Oh, congrats!" Courtney said. "Two months till a year."
"Yup. We're taking it slow," Kitty admitted with a smile.
"Slow's good. You don't want to get ahead of yourselves and end up getting hurt," Courtney said.
"We both agreed on that. Some days feel slower than others, but that's okay," she sighed.
Courtney raised an eyebrow and glanced over at Kitty. "Oh? Why's that, if you don't mind my asking?"
Kitty shrugged. "Some days we just don't talk as much. But we go on steady dates every week or so. It's nice." She smiled, clearly remembering some of their past dates.
"Aves goes on a date with Bryce almost once every week," Courtney said. "She said something about it making them grow together or something."
"On our last date, he took me to a movie, then Olive Garden. On the date before that, we went and played Laser Tag," she laughed. "I never know what to expect."
"Ohh, romantic," Courtney laughed.
"Yeah, right?" Kitty giggled. "He gives me no context. Not even how to dress!"
"So, casual but fancy is the way to go, huh?" Courtney asked jokingly.
"Usually. Unless he decides that we're going to climb Mount Everest," Kitty laughed.
"Well, obviously!" Courtney laughed. "That would require some extra equipment, too."
"Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he decided that we would do that on our 'anniversary.'" She did air quotes, recognizing it as just when they met. "He'd just text me and say something like, 'Hey, wanna go climb Mt. Everest in a month' or whatever," she giggled.
Courtney chuckled a bit. "He sounds like a fun guy."
"He's great," Kitty sighed. He was. Bryson was the complete, total package. Aside from his… past… he was great. But he'd told her about his faults and she'd been mad, yes, but she forgave him. Another text showed up.
Bryson
Where you at chickadee?
"He wants to know where I am?" Kitty didn't mean for it to be a question, it just was.
