Marco slowed to a speed walk. He heard footsteps pounding on the pavement. He turned back to see Phoebe running after him. Marco heaved a sigh and ran off again.

Phoebe saw Marco turn, look at her, and run faster. This stopped her like a punch in the stomach. He really had meant what he said. Another tear trickled down her cheek, but she wiped it off angrily, turning away. This is what happens when you trust people, Phoebe., her cousin's words echoed back to her. She swallowed. She was not having her heart broken again.

Micah ran his fingers over the symbol. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a small kid that must have been about ten years old. Oh no…. The kid stood up, looking right at Micah.
