“I ignored you because I was angry with you. I had the right to want to be alone,” Vaughn said. He continued to frown, refusing to meet Alana’s gaze. “Besides, I was busy, anyways, with my work.”
“I ignored you because I was angry with you. I had the right to want to be alone,” Vaughn said. He continued to frown, refusing to meet Alana’s gaze. “Besides, I was busy, anyways, with my work.”
"But it was so boring. I had nobody to talk to." she pouted.
“I don’t care, Alana,” Vaughn huffed. “This is just pointless. You need to wake us up,” he told her. He ran a hand through his hair, brushing it back. This was a waste of time. He shouldn’t have let Alana out, it was a terrible idea.
"But it's much more fun in here!" she grinned. The scene changed to a majestic waterfall, cascading downwards endlessly.
Vaughn looked around him as the scenery changed. He blinked his eyes. A few times, still half convinced that he might have been knocked out and was imagining all of this. “Alana, no. Come on.”
"We have all the time we need in here. Time in dreams can last years and yet be only seconds in the real world." Alana said. "I've wanted to be alone with you for a while, you know. And this is the perfect place!"
“Why would you want to be alone with me?” Vaughn questioned. He was a very suspicious person. He had let his guard down partly when becoming friends with Alana in the first place, but after everything happened, he seemed to have closed right back up.
"To talk. If you were thinking I was considering something dastardly, think again." she said.
“What would we even talk about?” Vaughn mumbled. He didn’t like being cornered into talking about things like this. All it did was cause him anxiety.
"I don't know. About you. About me." Alana suggested.
“There’s nothing to talk about with that,” Vaughn said. “We were friends, and now things are a bit different.” He thought it was simple. But maybe that was just how his mind worked.
"The world isn't separated into black and white. Everyone is different shades of grey. Sometimes good people do bad things, and bad people do good things. At least nobody's going to remember what I look like, when you lose control over someone's mind they tend to have amnesia over the whole ordeal. But an entire population amplifies that amnesia, makes them forget you. Poor loves, shame they had to forget my pretty face." Alana chuckled. "I do understand why you don't trust me, though. Death threats, and carrying out on them or at least attempting to carry them out, can put a bit of a damper on things."
“It doesn’t matter if they forget what happened. It still happened,” Vaughn breathed out. He couldn’t understand why Alana was laughing about this. He found that this was anxiety inducing. “And you’re right, I don’t trust you anymore.”
"Well, I see no reason for you to trust me. But you soon will." she said.
“What could you possibly do to earn my trust?” Vaughn questioned. Alana wouldn’t have known how hard it could be. Hell, one of his phobias was forming relationships with others due to a fear of trust. It took time and patience, something he didn't have these days.
"Many things. Despite how scared you are of me, I'm sure we can work out an arrangement." Alana purred, stepping past what would be considered the 'Universal Personal Space Bubble'.
“I’m not scared of you. I’m just trying to be cautious,” Vaughn said. He stepped back once Alana stepped forwards. He didn’t like people he didn’t trust getting close to him, or touch him for that matter.
"Aw, trying to run away from me. How sweet." she said. Suddenly, chains wrapped around Vaughn, forcing him to kneel before Alana. He was powerless to stop her, his strength didn't exist unless Alana permitted it. "I don't really like cowards all that much." she said, tilting his head upwards to face her with one of her long, well manicured nails digging into his chin.
Vaughn grunted when he was grabbed by the chains, pulling on them. Normally, he would have been able to break them, but he couldn’t muster up the strength. His breath caught in his throat, and anxiety shot through his nerves. “Don’t touch me,” he spat, turning his head away from Alana. He hadn’t felt so powerless in a long time- not since what happened with his family.
"I can do whatever I like to you in here. I could murder you ten thousand times, then ten thousand more, torture you endlessly. What's stopping me? I have you right where I want you. Why should I not cause you the same pain you caused me, what's a legitimate reason for you to receive my mercy?" she asked, pulling his face forward towards hers in an iron grip.
(May be off and on for a bit)
“I didn’t hurt you, physically at least,” Vaughn said. “You know that I wouldn’t do that.” His tone was sharp and firm. He had told Alana about his thing about not wanting to hurt women or children. He supposed that was because of his past, considering he had no problem with beating men half to death.
"You couldn't do it if you tried." she scolded.
“I don’t want to try,” Vaughn responded. He gave the chains another pull,, his jaw clenched as he did so. “Alana, get rid of these chains. You’re being childish with all of this.”
"No, my pet, I am not. You would dare to attempt defying my will?" she roared. "But alas, every day presents a new challenge to one's dignity."
“I am not your pet, and I would dare,” Vaughn hissed. He turned his head away, jerking it out of Alana’s hold. He pulled on the chains, feeling them dig into his covered arms and wrists. He blew hair out of his eyes, mentally reminding himself to get his hair trimmed once he got out of this place.
"And yet you can't do anything now. But I can do anything I like to you." she said, flashing an evil grin.
“Alana, don’t,” Vaughn told her, jerking the chains for a minute. “I’m serious about this.” At this point, he wished he hadn’t forgotten to take his medication earlier that morning.
"She's not Alana." a little girl's voice said. "I am." the girl continued. Alana scowled. "Go away, pest." she said. Other Alana simply smiled, waving a hand and removing the chains. "You want to be powerful, but you forget goodness. Kindness. Those are the real powers. Goodbye, Alana. Take care, Vaughn." Other Alana said, fading away. Suddenly, a shining white light overcame them, and Vaughn was thrown out of Alana's mind. Alana was unable to control the fits of shivering that overcame her. She thought she had removed that little insect a long time ago. Alana looked up at Vaughn with only hatred and contempt in her eyes. "Leave. Now." she said angrily.
Vaughn gasped for air when he came to, coughing softly after. He sat up, rubbing at his head. He must have hit it when he fell because there was a small cut just above his eyebrow. He looked over at Alana, disbelief on his face. He pushed to his feet, still catching his breath. Maybe that was best. He couldn't trust Alana now, he knew that for sure. So that’s exactly what he did. He stumbled out of the basement, through the slightly rustic features of the inside of the gas station and to what was a backroom. He shut the door and locked it, walking over to where a cot was. This had been his makeshift bedroom. Hell, this is where he practically lived. But he didn’t mind it, and he crawled onto the bed, his knees pulled up to his chest as he tried to will his anxiety away.
Alana couldn't stand up, could barely even move. I couldn't have let that silly insect take control. I couldn't have possibly let Vaughn see her. What is wrong with me? she thought.
