Well, it's simple… Cats are every bit as affectionate as dogs and people… They have body language that they ONLY use when showing affection to their owners, which most people see as them being annoyed…

Slow-blink: You know how when they close their eyes for a second or two, that's them saying that they love you and trust you to be around them. It means they want you around.
Showing of the anus: This one is weird and gross… But it indicates love and happiness…
Raising their tails high: it means they're proud of themselves and you.
Rubbing their head against you: While it was previously thought that this means that they are claiming something, it actually means that they're trying to intermingle their scent with yours.

Furthermore… Cats show similar thinking patterns, and an almost identical emotional spectrum to humans…
