Kasumi swayed her hips to the music as she sang, smiling as she let her eyes sweep out across the club audience. Strangely, this was like a second home to her. She loved the freedom her mask afforded her and the whole atmosphere of the club.
Max was in the back of a club, quietly drinking his drink. His ears slightly perked up when he heard someone singing and glanced at the stage, there was a woman with a mask on.
Taking the microphone off the stand and holding it in both hands, Kasumi wandered around the stage as she sang. She saw some familiar faces in the crowd. Some were actually her friends, the select few from the club who knew who she was, though they never saw her anywhere else.
Max hummed along to the song once he recognized it with a small smile on his face.
After another couple of songs, Kasumi decided to take a break and headed over to the bar.
"That was so great, Siren!" a slightly tipsy girl said to her as she walked past.
"Thanks, darling," Kasumi replied with a wink before continuing on.
Once at the bar, she sat down and smiled at Terry, the bartender, when he handed her a coke. Turning around in her barstool, she looked out at the club as she sipped her drink.
A very tipsy man started approaching Max and Max quickly tried to leave but the man grabbed his wrist, "Where are you going?" Max tried to get out of the man's grip, "Let me go." The man didn't let go and pulled Max closer, Max was still trying to get out of the man's grip.
Kasumi looked over at one corner of the club and spotted a man struggling to get away from another man. Setting down her Coke, she strode through the crowd to the two men.
"Is there a problem here, gentlemen?" she asked them, putting a hand on her hip.
Max didn't say anything, not bothering to look at the girl that came over. "No, nothing is wrong." The man said, bringing Max even closer to him. "I'm just trying to get my boyfriend to come home with me." The man lied, Max was very uncomfortable and shook his head, he didn't even know the man and he wasn't sure what the man was going to do.
"Hmmmm… well, it appears your 'boyfriend' doesn't want to come with you, bud," Kasumi replied, narrowing her eyes. That guy looks familiar… "And you absolutely reek of booze, so I can understand why. How 'bout I call you a cab and your 'boyfriend' can head home later?"
"I'll find you again, pretty boy." The man said before glaring at the woman and leaving. Max sighed in relief, "Than-why are you here?" He asked.
Kasumi blinked. Oh shoot… Calming her face into a mask of confusion, she replied, "I'm Siren, I work here, bud. Performer and extra security."
"I know it's you Kas, you work at May's Diner and here?" He asked, becoming more curious.
Gosh diddly darn dammit… "Sir, I don't know what you're talking about. You may have had one too many drinks," Kasumi replied. "Maybe I should call you a cab, too."
"I've had half a glass, Kas, and stop trying to lie." Max said, showing his glass which was indeed only half-empty.
"I'm not this Kas person," Kasumi replied adamantly. "Seriously, bud, if anything you may need to get your eyes checked."
Max just stared at her with a blank face, "Seriously, Kas? Or should I say Kasumi Sakura Enderas?"
Kasumi sighed. "Fine, ya caught me, you happy now?" she muttered. "Just don't go spreading my name around here."
"I won't, but why are you working here?" He asked, slightly tilting his head to the right.
"Because I like it here," Kasumi replied with a shrug.
"Why do you like it?" He asked, even more curious now.
"Being able to perform, the music in general, the atmosphere, my anonymity. Everything," Kasumi replied.
"That's cool," Max said. "I'm gonna leave," He said, awkwardly pointing at the door.
Kasumi shrugged. "Do what you want. You already know who I am, so I don't care." She began to walk away, towards the dance floor.
"Okay then." Max began to walk out of the club, hoping no one else tried to flirt with him.
