“Laughter is always one of the best medicines. Singing and smiling are the others.” She tells him, grinning.
“Laughter is always one of the best medicines. Singing and smiling are the others.” She tells him, grinning.
"My, my. You could be my life coach." he says, smiling a little.
"Yeah, well, that's kind of what angels do. You could use a little perking up," Mar remarks, lifting his chin with a finger, squinting as if analyzing the amount of darkness in him.
He rolls his eyes and laughs a little at that.
Marlene laughs along with him until an impatient knock on the door makes her jump. "Must be the catering." She mumbles. "I'll have to hide my wings under my shirt, which will take a bit…can you get it?" She whispers. "Or would it hurt too much?"
"I'll get it." he says, standing up. He limps towards the door, shooing her off. He opens the door.
Marlene rushes to hide behind the breakfast bar, folding her wings so they won't peek up against the countertop. They're so large it's impossible to hide them behind her body, and it's a challenge to fit them behind the breakfast bar, even. Being in this position too long is making them tired, and if Antione doesn't hurry up, she'll have to unfold them.
Antoine pays the man, thanking him as he takes the food then shuts the door. "Clear." He calls.
Sighing with relief, the massive white wings unfold and Marlene comes out from behind the bar. "Thanks. I know that probably hurt a lot." She took the food and began dishing it onto plates.
He shrugs, "No biggie." He sets the food on the table before limping back to the couch.
Marlene brings the food over to the couch, her massive wings almost knocking a box of Kleenex off a shelf. "Oof. We might have to move some of the stuff in here. I mean, I could always fold my wings up, since most of the stuff is yours, but…" A small grimace crosses her face at the thought of having to fold up her wings for days on end.
He shakes his head, "You're welcome to leave your wings out. I don't mind." Antoine says, humming. He relaxes on the couch, trying to find a comfortable way to sit.
Mar looked at him for a second, then shrugged and plopped onto an armchair, beginning on a quesadilla. "If you say so. You might find a couple of your things on the floor, though. By accident."
"It's fine." He grabs his food and begins to eat, letting out a soft noise of bliss.
"Good, huh? Maybe I should get Mexican more often." Marlene remarks. She looks deep in thought for a moment, then snaps back to Antione. "Hayley got a touch-up yesterday. How's about an evening ride?"
He looks at her with utter terror, "Nope." He says, shaking his head. "You nearly got us killed last time."
"I did not get us killed. Heck, that wasn't even top speed!" She scoffs, looking down at her food. "How about you drive, then? We can stop somewhere and drive back later, if you want." She just needed to get out of the house.
Antoine hesitates. "Only if I drive." He answers, glancing at her nervously. He smiles a little, letting out a soft laugh. "You can drive back." He says, continuing to eat.
"Okay. Take the food with you, Hayley won't mind a little tamale spill. I hope." Mar collected her bowl and stood up, fishing her keys out of the drawers and leaning against a door. "Got any particular place in mind?"
He smirks. "In fact, I do." He stands, stretching a little bit and finishing his food.
"Hmm." She tosses the keys to him and opens the door, waving a hand. "You first, good sir."
"Why thank you, m'lady." He walks past her and towards the car. He pauses and waits for her.
She sidles into the passenger seat next to him, buckling up. "So, where are we going?"
He smirks. "That's for me to know and you to find out." He hums, beginning to drive.
"You're leaving me hanging, I see." Mar raised an eyebrow.
"Indeed I am." He hums, continuing to drive.
"Hm." She smiles and looks out the window, then back to him. "Twenty questions for it?"
"Fine." He says casually, taking a right turn.
"Is it in the city?"
"Nope."
