"Can we have bagels? I saw some in the fridge yesterday." Elise asks, looking up at him.
"Can we have bagels? I saw some in the fridge yesterday." Elise asks, looking up at him.
"Bagels? I was gonna surprise you with those." He grinned gently, his eyes droopy with sleepiness.
"You're terrible at keeping secrets. But go on, sleep." She ruffled his hair.
Havenwood shook her hand off. "No… no ruffles…" He mumbled meekly before setting his head back down.
Elise grinned and rolled out of bed. No ruffles, he said? She'd see about that.
Havenwood unwillingly let her go and relaxed back into the bed with a gentle sigh.
She got the bagels and sat on the couch, eating two at once. Heyy, princess. Lover boy is asleep again. We can talk about your insolent life choices without interruption. Elise's posture sagged. Really, Conscience? Yup.
Careful there, Conscience. I might just wake him up. She smiled to herself. You would never. Yes, I would.
Havenwood drifted off again, and an annoying voice punctured his dream. You WoUld NeverrrReEREERRR, it screeched.
What the hell? He thought loudly as he jolted awake. The holy hades was that?
“Sorry. It was Conscience again. She likes to argue with me when you’re asleep.” Elise’s eyes had an apologetic glow.
Havenwood rubbed his temples and rose out of bed, his back aching. "Well, that was a fright I don't want again."
“Same here. Bagel?” Elise held out the last one.
"Mm, you can have it." Havenwood sat down on the couch.
“Okay.” Elise shrugged, devoting the bagel with gusto.
Havenwood rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and stretched.
(devouring)
(i noticed that and decided to just..)
“So how’s the war going so far? Are my guns working?” Elise asks, glancing over at him.
"Yeah, your guns are working." He pulled his hands away from his face and grinned at her.
“I made a new cog mold last night. I might work on the pieces a bit today.” She grins back. “It looks very steampunk.”
Havenwood snorted. "What was I expecting?"
Elise giggled. “Nothing less than this.”
Havenwood leaned back into the couch. "Nothing less."
“It’s the first day of October,” Elise noted, checking the calendar she’d made two days after her arrival.
Havenwood hummed. "So it is."
“You know what that means.” A sly smile crept across her face.
Havenwood glanced at her, suddenly afraid. "What… what does it mean, love?"
"It means HALLOWEEN! You know, scary stuff? Creepy stories?" She exclaims, leaping up from the couch.
"Why do you have that look on your face?" He glanced at her smug smirk with a look of fear.
"Because it's going to be awesome. Don't tell me you've never carved a pumpkin? Set up a really crap-your-pants-scary kind of prank? Ever?"
