She watched the water move around. "Whoa…"
She watched the water move around. "Whoa…"
Cameron set the cartons of ice cream crammed into his arms down on the counter and waved his finger. The one that almost fell joined its fellows as the water zoomed back to the sink.
"Anywho…" Cameron turned to face the awestruck Sage and the grumpy looking Zackary again with a smile.
She snapped up. "Oh, yeah. What was the thing?"
"What thing?" Cameron asked gently. Zackary gave Sage a look of confusion.
"The-the…" Her mind blanked on the word. "Problem! Yeah, that. I can't speak today."
"Oh." Cameron looked like he too drew a blank. "I dunno. Zackary wouldn't tell me."
"We have to make sure… she's the one, idiot."
"At least I graduated out of college, moron."
"That's because you went to Middle High!"
She awkwardly what the two, still confused. "…what?"
Cameron huffed. "Anyway, Zackary, tell us what's going on."
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because we don't have the others. You two alone aren't going to be nearly as powerful."
"For what?" She asked, not even bothering to hide her confusion.
Cameron gifted Zackary an amazing glare. "You're being very vague, and it's just confusing us more!"
"So? I need other people in order to execute my plan."
Sage just stood quietly. "Why does this feel like the beginning of a cliche YA fantasy novel." She muttered to herself
(Shushes)
Zackary fluffed himself out and glared down at Sage. "It's not cliche, it's an actual problem."
"I'm just saying." She said, holing her hands up
"I don't care; it's a problem that might affect the world in a very negative way."
"Okay, I get that, but what is it?"
Zackary huffed. "Demons are steadily leaking out of Hell from a rip in between our worlds. A lot of them are blending in really easily, causing more crimes, and… just general mayhem." He sighed. "Look, I know it sounds really cliche, and made up, but it's true."
"Damn…" She mumbled. "What other people?"
"Other Elementalists I've seen around the area." Zackary straightened his posture again.
She nodded. "Okay. I'm in."
Zackary nodded at her, his respect for her intensifying. "I like how well you took that. Perhaps… you took it too well. Anyway, Cameron?" He looked over at the tall brunet.
Cameron was leaned against the fridge, his hands in his pockets. "I suppose."
She smiled slightly. "Hey, if it feels like the start of a fantasy novel, might as well follow through to the conclusion."
Zackary sighed and shook his head. "Look, I know it sounds tacky (the person who made up the plot sucks at plots). But it's very real."
"I know, I know. I just didn't want to look completely crazy."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Nothing."
Zackary squinted at her. "Mhmm… anyway, come back every once in a while and we can talk more about it."
She nodded. "I can probably sneak back after school. Make up some random project or something."
Zackary nodded while Cameron looked concerned.
"Look, don't try and get in trouble trying to see us. We understand if you won't be able to make it."
