"I moved on but why didn't you? I left and you knew exactly why. So why didn't you give up? Move on to the next girl and forget about me?" This was one thing she never understood.
"I don't know how," his voice was at a whisper to hide the shakiness of his crying.
"You were the town flirt. The heartbreaker. The guy who went through girls like nothing and you got caught up on me? A 14-year-old girl?" She knew she was pushing it but she was curious.
"It. Doesn't. Matter." he said suddenly, picking his head up to reveal his wet face, tears still actively rolling down his cheeks, he flicked his cigarette wastefully. He opened his fist but closed it again when he saw the burn mark that had been left there.
"Maybe not to you but it does to me." Sound familiar?? Yeah. Sounds like any fight these two ever had.
"You're the only one that made it better okay? The other girls, they were fun but I didn't love them, once I thought I did but then I met you and things changed. You made things better, you showed me light where only darkness had been before. You're all I ever wanted and now you're gone. I pushed you away and I will never forgive myself,"
(I has to go shower. I will be back in approximately 20 minutes.)
This is a whole episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Absolutely. "I was your angel. That's what you told me at least." She whispered. She could remember the early mornings before school, the late nights before bed. The whispers and giggles under the cloak of darkness. The fights and the 'I'm sorry' kisses. She could remember it all like the back of her hand.
(Okay sounds good)
"You were my everything and I pushed you over the edge like you meant nothing to me. It hurt when you weren't there, I felt like I couldn't breath without you as if I had forgotten how." this time when he looked at her, his face was tear stained and his eyes were red, pleading to be set free from the hell that he trapped himself in. "Do you hate me?" is all he said.
She searched his eyes, could he see the movie of their relationship playing in her head? "No. No I don't hate you."
āBut, you donāt love me,ā he nodded. Another tear made itās way from his eye to his chin, every moment heās ever spent with her played in his mind and he couldnāt help but to focus on the good things, the time when she loved him too and things were okay again.
She didn't say anything for a minute. "Everyone in town was jealous of us. Wanted to know how we worked. I remember the days I lied to anyone and everyone that I was 13 until I actually turned 13. We fit together like puzzle pieces. Star-crossed lovers."
Her words made his shoulders shake with kept back sobs, his voice was shaky, āI was proud to have you and I wanted everyone to know even if they couldnāt,
She couldn't help but smile a little. "I remember the days where I could have to peel the other jealous girls off of you because they wanted what I had. I remember the days where I'd come out off the bus and the first thing I'd see was you stood there, waiting for me. Everyone could barely even hold back their jealousy that I had somehow captured the heart of the hottest guy in town."
He put his hand gently in her cheek, no intentions off kissing her unless, under the rare circumstance she asked him to or did it herself but just simply craving her contact. āI wasnāt the hottest guy in town,ā
She giggled, raising an eyebrow. "Oh really? I, and about 40 other girls from that town, beg to differ."
A smile spread on his face, she hadnāt shuddered at his touch, she let it happen so he didnāt move other than his thumb gently grazing her cheek. āThere has to be someone better looking than me,ā
"In general? Yeah probably. From that town? Hell no! You were the best eye candy we had and goddamn did we take it for granted."
He laughed, a perfect example of what she did to him. She could rip him apart and make him the happiest man alive in minutes. āI guess there were limited options,ā
"More limited than you'd like to believe." She spun the ring on her finger, her new fidget habit.
āDo you know what it was like after you came back to me, it was the happiest I had ever been and then I watched you be ripped away again. We havenāt talked since ,ā
"I noticed that. But I knew that in order to be happy, I had to go with my heart and my heart chose him." She sighed. "I'm sorry. I really am. But don't expect us to go back to how we were." She stood, stomped out her cigarette, and started for the door. "I'll talk to you later, yeah?" She didn't wait for an answer, just stepped inside and closed the door. She climbed the stairs and walked back into the room, hoping Ryan was still in there.
Ryan sat with Neal, they seemed to be catching up after their years of not talking.
Cooper walked in and sat on the couch, slowly breaking down until he was curled in a ball with his knees to his chest and crying hard.
She stood in the doorway, knocking on the frame. "Knock knock. Sorry to interrupt but sitting outside with Cooper got too awkward so I came back up here."
āYouāre going to kill my brother,ā Neal laughed.
Ryan just smiled at her.
