(One of you guys go ahead)
Asura stepped forward. "Alright, for the past couple of hours we've been getting way off track. Our goal was to find our target and get out of here."
Pluto waved the file she was holding around. "Well, thankfully Michael finished his psychic magic, so now we know exactly where to go."
"Target?" Red questioned. "May I assist?" It was the least she could do for the people who had just saved her life, after all.
"Sure, the more the merrier I guess."
Asura glared. "What if she's on our target's side?"
"Pretty sure the target's a solo rider. She's been alone the entire time we've been tracking her."
"There's no way to know that for sure though," Asura pointed out. He made a face at Red. "Besides, I don't want some vicious blood-sucker tagging along with us."
"That's mighty rude of you, pal." Mike glanced at Red. "Sorry about him."
"This isn't some highschool friendship club, Mike. We have a job to do."
"Yeah, and I'm as antsy as you. But people are resources, and if she's offered to help, I want to know what she can do for us."
"He does have a point though," she said, gesturing to Asura.
"Well, I guess he's got a point. How do we know you're not with the target?" Pluto leered a little at the vampire
(I gotta vanish for a bit)
(Ok)
"That's not a person."
Now Mike looked annoyed. "Who are you to talk, huh? She may not be human, but she is a person, experimental or no. She's been through hell, give her some respect."
"And you're saying this because you know her so well?" Asura challenged, stepping toward Mike. "We might have found her in a weakened state, but that doesn't mean that she is a good, trustworthy person."
He didn't flinch. "I'm not saying I know one way or the other. But I'm not going to treat her like a monster until she proves she is one."
"That is by far the stupidest thing I have ever heard. She could hurt or kill us. We shouldn't trust her until she proves that she can be trusted."
"She's a small, sick girl that happens to drink blood. I'm a full-grown, fully trained, morally dubious mercenary that kills giant man-eaters for money. You trusted me with your treacherous plans easily enough."
"I at least had talks with you first, and I still don't trust you completely."
Mike threw up his hands. "Whatever. I forgot you're a higher being, so you don't have to worry about making friends and caring for others. But if you haven't got anything civil to say to Red, then maybe you should just leave her alone."
(Sorry Jen, no hard feelings)
(It's fine lol, this is pretty interesting)
Asura clenched his fists, glaring at Mike. "I care about a lot of people." He then gestured to Red. "But I have no reason to blindly give her my trust or my respect. We are not bringing her along."
Mike's face stayed impassive. "I guess I can't fight you on this, since you're the one paying me." He turned away and went to look out the window. "But I want to warn you that these days, your attitude ain't gonna fly with most people. It's better to form alliances than rivalries."
"Yeah, wanting to fight everyone, especially in this town, will probably tick off more than a few people."
"Speaking of," Mike said, "You said you know where Zoe's at now?"
"Yup." Pluto opened the folder and set it on the table. It held a bunch of papers detailing Zoe, and on the top of the pile was a map with a red dot on it, with "bingo" written with an arrow to the dot. "Huh. Warehouse junction across town. Should be in the process of being made into a new machine shop. So abandoned, probably."
"Makes sense. Know anything about the area?"
