( meanwhile in the truck… )
Element slumped, her back leaning against the truck wall. She hated any type of cuffs.
"Ben? Ben where are you?" Ari cried. She was in the dark woods, alone. Ben had been beside her, and he just disappeared without so much as a scream. "Ben!" she called again. Still no answer. She heard sticks snap behind her, and turned around swiftly. "Ben?" she said quietly. But it wasn't Ben that stood in from of her. It was a Makiya. She cried out and ran, but she wasn't fast enough. He caught her and cuffed her, using his magic to take away her sight. Then Ari fell unconscious.
Element lowered her head. Cuffs would forever remind her of the day she lost her brother.
Taking a deep breath to clear her head, Avery stood and faced the direction the truck was in.
"We should go back to them," she suggested, her voice tight.
“Yeah, we should,” Vaughn responded and stood, taking his gun back and putting a new clip into it. He seemed to be back to his other attitude, like he hadn’t just been open moments before. He walked back to the truck in silence.
Element heard Avery and Vaughn approach, so she wiped away tears, put on a brave face, and stood.
(I'm sorry to Dylan to do this, and I can totally pretend that I didn't even say this if you guys don't like it, but this feels like it was bound to happen anyway, so… here goes…)
Avery walked behind Vaughn, her pace slower than his as the thoughts tumbled around in her head. What was that all about? Why do I keep feeling this way around guys that I hardly know? She shook her head, trying to clear it as they arrived at the truck.
"Your back." said Element.
( wait what? @SorceressWriter )
(Avery's conflicted about her feelings for the boys.)
( OOOOOOOHHHH NOOOOOO AVERY! DYLAN IS THE ONLY ONE FOR HER! then we got sixteen yr old e to young for love )
( single Pringle )
(I literally almost laughed out loud at that!)
(RIP)
Vaughn grabbed the guard by the collar of his shirt and dragged him around the other side of the building, muttering something about going to change. He walked back a few minutes later, the guards clothes on and his own clothes in a neat pile in his hands. He tossed his clothes onto the passenger side seat of the truck.
“So we get there, and then what?” Vaughn asked, tugging at the collar of the shirt.
(Like ‘RIP lmao’, stuff like that. Also, if I might add, I don’t think Vaughn is like mentally stable for a relationship and besides, Avery and Dylan would be super good together.)
(Lol, ok. Pretend I didn't even write it, then. :P)
(waves her hands like she's a magician It never even happened!)
"I, uh, thought we'd sneak in. The 'guards' would pretend to have captured us, and… Yeah. That's about as far as I got," Avery told them, then smiled sheepishly.
Vaughn exhaled and ran his hand through his hair a few times, trying to mess it up from it’s normal style as much as possible. All he had accomplished, though, was making it look like he just rolled out of bed. “I guess we can improvise, then. Is everyone ready to go?”
He adjusted the shirt so his pistol could not be seen and opened up the drivers side door.
With a sigh, Avery climbed into the truck and snapped on a pair of cuffs.
Once everyone else was in, he started the truck. A GPS started up wit a route already programmed, and he smiled in a pleased manner. He pulled out of the lot and drove down the road. He was glad to finally be alone, and he turned on the radio, but kept it down low.
Element sat with her knees to her chest, twiddling her thumbs.
Avery sighed and stared off into space. Thoughts and memories floated through her mind as they drove.
Avery walked down a hallway with five other girls. They opened a random door and walked into a room, wires were everywhere. The ground started to shake, and Avery mentioned it to the other girls. When they took no notice of it, she ignored it the next time it happened. It happened a third time, and she told them to get underneath the large, metal table that was in the center of the room. They did.
Then the room collapsed around them.
Vaughn drives until he fulled up to a gate, a watch tower hovering in the distance. He checked the key card for the guards name as he pulled up. He held out the card to the man at the gate before getting buzzed in. He drove the truck into the lot and parked it. He got out and went to the back of the truck, swinging open the back doors.
With a shake of her head, Avery cleared her thoughts. It won't help to think about that, now. Stay focused on the present.
A little voice piped up in the back of her mind, whispering, Like Dylan's sky-blue eyes?
Avery blinked, then quickly glanced over at him. He looked like he was sleeping; his eyes were closed and his chest was moving up and down rhythmically. She shook her head again. Why was she thinking about that at a time like this?
(What happened to @ShadowMisfit ?)
Lenny saw the doors open, and blinked rather fast due to the light that filled the dark space.
Vaughn’s gun was in his hand now as he stood there. “Out, now!” He demanded sharply, his expression cruel but his eyes are reassuring.
Lenny stood, and hopped out of the truck, eyes lowered.
Avery blinked at Vaughn's tone, but she was reassured by the look in his eyes. She climbed out after Lenny, keeping her head down.
Once they were all out, he nudged them foreword and walked behind them toward the entrance. He kept his gun trained on them, but he left the safety on.
