Guys
You know how much I hate writer's block?
Well
This is one of those times
I'm legitly suck and idk how to keep writing without making it seem boring

There’s something in my house and I don’t like it

Turns out there’s some weird civilization in my house
Oh wait, I should probably explain, my bad, lets rewinds.
“BROOKLYN, YOU BETTER FINISH PACKING WHEN I GET BACK!” Her mother yelled from below before a door was heard slamming after.
Brooklyn cringed at the door closing before looking at all the boxes casually sitting on the floor. It was 9 A.M in the morning, she woke up one hour ago, her mother would get back around 6 P.M at night which left her with 8 hours to unpack ‘like 20 boxes and at this rate she was probably doomed to her fate. Her room wasn’t much, it was average size with a walk-in closet to the side and a lone window but still filled with boxes, which still wasn’t going to go away any time soon.
Suddenly, an idea hit her, No, not literally.
Maybe I can stuff some boxes in my closet. She would still unpack, but she would hide some boxes among the items so she wouldn’t have to do it in one day. I’m a genius.
Immediately, she pushed a pile of boxes over to the closet and started to unpack the first box.

I asked my dad about how I should portray an ace character in a novel and he asked me "Why do you want to do that?" and I told him that there wasn't enough asexual representation in literature so he was like "Okay" and so I asked him how I could do that without offending anyone and he said that I should just not bring sexuality up at all. Dad, it's literally a coming-of-age story. Where the character is learning about themself and how they identify themself. So now I'm asking you all, since I know that there are asexual people here that could give me some good insight on how to write such a character. I also hope this post doesn't offend anyone, lol.

@kat_i_am

OKAY SO FIRST OF ALL (wow sorry I'm v excited)
asexuality isn't the whole character. Build your character first- asexuality is one facet of their character, but it's not their entirety
figure out what kind of ace they are (in terms of sexual attraction)- there's gray-ace (aka graysexual), demisexual, and more (fun fact I can't remember all of them bc depression). And then figure out where on the ace spectrum (in terms of feelings about sex) they are. There's sex-positive (hopes she got it right), where an ace will participate in sex bc they love their partner a lot, and can even enjoy it (I believe, this is the exact opposite of me). Consent is important fam. There's sex neutral, where sex is a maybe. They might do it, they might not. They might enjoy it, they might not. Then there's sex repulsed (DAS MEEEEEEEE) where the idea of sex is disgusting and they just don't ever wanna participate, no matter how much they love their partner.
I KNOW THERE'S MORE BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER MORE
Sol? You're ace too, what would you add
Also aces have differing degrees of comfort with touch. I love platonic cuddles and stuff with my friends, but some aces hate any physical contact.

I'm not Ace so I can't really say

but sexuality is like the most popular topic on this site

@kat_i_am

also you're not offending anyone
I have to go to church in a few minutes, but I will keep thinking about good ace rep and then let you know
ALSO IF YOU WANT TO READ SOME GOOD ACE REP
LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE BY CLAIRE KANN IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS EVER THE MC IS BI/ACE (LIKE ME WHOOOO)

@kat_i_am

OH ALSO
are they aro (aromantic) as well? If they're not aromantic, you should figure out their romantic attraction
I'm biromantic, and I'm into guys and girls (and I think also NB ppl? IDK, it's a possibility. I don't know a lot of NB ppl my age who I could even be into?)
But they can be hetero-romantic
or panromantic
or literally any other sexuality but minus the sexual part
