“You still haven’t told me your brilliant plan,” Marco dipped his head, but didn’t break eye contact, “Shall I just follow you blindly, my queen?” Marco gave her a smile. Either she was using him in some way or wanted to keep it a surprise, if she wasn’t tellin him. Marco suspected the former.

“You’ll get the title of Empress after this is all over. But I would certainly like to know how you are planning for us to do that, love.” Marco cocked his head to the side.

Deleted user

"Oh, how sweet. I never said I finished formulating my plan, but I promise you it shall be worth the wait."

“Okay, beauty,” Marco replied. Yes was probably using him, but he found that some small piece inside him wanted to still trust her. It was foolish, but one of his ears listened. He could decide later, then. Marco turned and grinned. He would be able to call himself an Emperor, too, if he wasn’t cheated at the end of it.

"To be quite honest, I don't really do well with holding power over the living all by myself. I might need someone to rule with me." she said.

“Oh, and will you be my puppeteer to get there?” Marco prodded at his suspicions in a playful manner as he stopped again and faced her.

Deleted user

"As much as I like puppets, they don't last long." she said, stepping far too close to Marco for her relationship with him to be platonic (at least on her side of the relationship) at that point. "I was thinking of something more…. long term." she grinned.

Marco sighed, disappointment coming over him (at least based on what he’s assuming) “You’re too smart to fall in love, sweet,” But Marco didn’t back away. He didn’t want to back away, he was listening to the small piece inside him with both ears now. Gosh… He was making a mistake. Marco tried to force his feet to step away, but he stayed in place, unmoved.

"Or maybe I'm smart enough to seek love out and grasp it when I get the chance." she said, leaning in towards Marco.

(I mean if you want to, Marco could have poisoned that dagger to make it convenient)

(My device is about to die, so if I disappear, you know why)
“You don’t love me,” Marco breathed, but still didn’t move. His head kept on repeating the words. It was logical. Marietta was using him, like how Marco used blades. She doesn’t love you.

Deleted user

"Are you really, truly sure about that?" Marietta asked.

Deleted user

“You don’t love me, Marietta,” Marco hardly ever called her by her actual name, “I know how you’re such a puppeteer,” Marco still didn’t move, though his head was saying -no, screaming- otherwise.

Deleted user

"Denial? From you? Honestly, you really think I'm just trying to use you?" she asked.

Deleted user

“If I think otherwise I might be in danger,” Marco replied, but then listened to that small part of him, “Although danger has its appeals.”

Deleted user

"I don't want us to fail." she said. "Because we both know that together we have so much potential."

Deleted user

Marco looked deeply into her eyes, lost despite all of his logical protests, “Promise you won’t break my heart too bad?”

Deleted user

"If I do break your heart, I'm sure I could find a suitable spare." she said.
