"Edwin…" Savannah sighed, stopping again to turn and look at him. "This is what you've prepared for your entire life; you can do it! Please, Edwin… the people, and me… we need you."
"Edwin…" Savannah sighed, stopping again to turn and look at him. "This is what you've prepared for your entire life; you can do it! Please, Edwin… the people, and me… we need you."
Riverpaw stopped behind the two, listening worriedly. Are they okay? She thought.
Edwin started pacing, staring at the floor, “Yes, yes,” Edwin felt himself start to ramble, but couldn’t find the means to stop himself, “I’ve been raised for it. Raised for this, raised for that, I can name the family trees of all the nobles in my country, because I was raised for it. And of course you need me!” There was a sarcastic and irritable bite to his words as he threw his hands in the air, “Because I’m the prince, I’m going to be king. I suppose there’s already an outfit lying on the dresser for my wedding day, I suppose my best man has already been chosen. It doesn’t matter what the groom thinks!” Edwin was shouting now, pacing faster, “It doesn’t matter, because I was raised for this, because I was put into a box and told to fit perfectly inside!” Only when Edwin kicked the wall didn’t he realize how worked up he had gotten. Pain lanced through his leg, and he leaned his head against the wall, absorbing it.
Savannah shrunk against the wall, unable to make eye contact with Edwin. "I… I-I know, Edwin, but please… I know it's frustrating, I know it's not fair, trust me, I know!" Tears stung her eyes, but she quickly brushed them away. "As unfair as it may be, we have responsibilities to our countries. Everyone has responsibilities here; this just happens to be ours. You don't have to wear whatever outfit they've chosen for you. You can pick another one. You can choose your best man, for God's sake! Just, please Edwin, don't run off again. We're not children anymore, and sometimes, we just have to do what's best for the country and forget about what we want for a little while."
A guard walked in and saw what was happening but didn't say anything. "Prince Edwin, someone is here to see you." He then left in a hurry, not wanting to be there any longer then he had to be. Damian wore his second best outfit and was carrying a bag with his best outfit for tomorrow. He figured he could stay one night, then go home tomorrow after the wedding. He waited outside the gates because the guards wouldn't let him in, he knew they wouldn't.
(This is sorta what Damian looks like https://pin.it/umrb46fef7sm4p)
Edwin’s eyes stung, his face stricken with hopelessness, “I tasted freedom, I tasted it and I can’t get it out of my head, Savannah, I can’t just give it up. We don’t even know each other and I’m getting married to you. I’m scared. I’m weak. But when I marry you I’ll become king and I-“ I was raised to be king “I can’t marry someone I don’t know yet.” Edwin said firmly. He wouldn’t go through with his vows until he knew her. Until he knew her like he knew Damian. Damian should be my best man…
(Oof, pretend mine was before the guard came in)
Edwin clenched his fists, sighing, “I should go see who that is.”
"Of course, Edwin. What do you want to know? What do you need to know to feel like you know me?" Savannah was still cowering against the wall, startled by Edwin's sudden outburst.
(I have to go for a bit. Sorry.)
“I’m- I’m so sorry,” Edwin said, wiping at his eyes a little before taking Savannah’s hands in his gently. Had I scared her? Edwin could meet her eyes, “I’m a terrible person.”
"No, you're not…" Savannah ran her thumb over the back of Edwin's hand softly. "You're a wonderful person who was frustrated, and rightfully so. I know it's hard, but there's not much we can do…"
Edwin closed his eyes, “Will you eat lunch with me? Just so we can… talk or something?” Edwin suggested, shamed because of his outburst.
"Yes, of course, Edwin. Where would you like to go?" Savannah looked up at Edwin, awaiting his answer.
(Can we pretend Damian comes after the lunch/get-to-know-you thing?)
(Back. Yeah that's no problem.)
(What about Riverpaw? She's been sitting there scared as hecc while Savannah and Edwin cry and talk about their Feelings™)
(Yeah… I haven't been doing anything either…)
(Maybe your two characters interact, like, Riverpaw practices changing forms and your character sees her?)
(Yes. I like it. Yes.)
(cool beans)
(How shall I bring cas back)
(He could also see Riverpaw maybe???? Or he could talk with lonely Damian)
(Where is Damian?)
(He is waiting outside the gate for Edwin to come get him because the guards won't let him in)
(Cas is close to the queen so he could have him come in)
Caspian rode his horse towards the castle
(Okay cool.)
“Open the gates, Caspian Fern, friend of Princess Savannah.” Cas said. Then he saw another man “who are you? You look familiar.”
(gtg, 'night)
"My name is Damian and I'm a friend of Edwin's. I'm just waiting for him." He was leaning against the gate and his eyes were closed. His head felt a lot lighter since he cut his hair.
