"Thomas!" Caroline greeted. She patted the desk next to her, inviting him to sit down.

Natalie couldn't stand it. She gently moved Oliver so that he was leaning on the chair, then she went over to Caroline and enveloped her in a big hug.

"Come in and join our pity party Thomas." Nat said with both a hint of sadness and of joking.

Emilia delivered most of the things until only a package and two letters remained. When walking by one of the rooms, she spotted most of her younger colleagues huddled together. Thomas stood in front of her.

Stiffly, the ginger sat down, "I.. ah, wouldn't expect such cordial greetings," he offered an unsure smile, trying to make himself comfortable. He upfolded and unfolded his sleeve cuff.

“Hmm..” Briar hummed to herself as she still sat on the floor, her knees pulled up to her chest.
“I guess I can speak for a good amount of us when I say today’s been crazier than a horse on steroids..”

Caroline welcomed Natalie and hugged her back. "Thank you," she breathed into Natalie's ear. She pulled away and laughed at Briar's comment. "Sure was. One of the newborns has a cystic adenomatous malformation and chances are they'll want the operation. Which I haven't done in a really long time, and not to mention you can't defibrillate a baby."
She mentally slapped herself at that last comment.

Natalie agreed with Briar. "I lost my cousin and was told that I could have a relapse." She said softly, more to herself than to anyone else.

Briar peered out the window of Dove’s office and noticed something strange. Out on an awning..was a teen holding his phone out for a selfie. He cautionsly inched his way around, pressing his back to the wall. Briar was less than five feet above him.
Briar realized the situation could become fatal rather quickly, so she pushed open the window and stuck out a foot, resting it on the wide windowsill below it.
She turned to the rest of the group, who hadn’t noticed her demise.
“Guys! There’s a kid on the ledge below me!”

Natalie looked up. "What?!?!" She ran over to the window to look where Briar was pointing.

“I’m going after him.” She said plainly, stepping out onto the wide window sill. She tried to keep herself balanced without support, but it proved to be difficult. She finally found her balance, peering out onto the city skyline. Everything seemed so high..and far away from the ground. Holy..

One last delivery. Emilia leaned against the wall, looking at who the letters were for. She clasped her hand over her mouth, trying not to cry. Oh no. They were for the little boy, the one that died. Shaking, she sat down on the cold floor. She should have known. The post man gave her the letters right as she was leaving.

"Briar!" Caroline shrieked. "Get back in here!" But her friend was already inching her way long, not looking back. "Oh my god, oh my god." she mumbled. She looked down at the kid… who was taking a selfie. "My friend is risking her life for the sake of a SELFIE!?" she cried. And she lost it. She climbed out after Briar and quickly caught up to her. Briar looked terrified.

"Guys don't!" Nat shouted. "How are you guys going to help him?"

"By intimidating him back into the window!" she shouted back to Nat. "HEY, KID!" she screamed down at him.

“No.. wait..” Briar suddenly lost her footing and plummeted backwards, screaming. She grabbed on for anything that could stop her. But she only came up with empty hands of air. Then she felt it. The sickening whump of her body hitting the pavement. And the crack of bone. All she could do was scream in pain.

Natalie screamed. Using her quick wits she grabbed Caroline and pulled her back inside. "Let's go!" She ran out of the room and started for the first floor to get outside.

"BRIAR!" Caroline shrieked. She sped back inside and sprinted through hallways and was out the door in 2 minutes flat, and by her friend's side.

"Briar, oh my god," she said softly, choking back a sob. "I'm so sorry, I scared you, it's all my fault." She lifted her friend's head gently and put it in her lap, stroking her hair away from her face.

“Mmm…I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory.. is this where it gets me? Will I finally be with my..mom?” Briar moaned, coughing up blood. The pain was throbbing all throughout her body.

Natalie rushed to Briar's side with a team of medics behind her. "Brair, hey. It's going to be okay." She helped the others lift her into a stretcher. "GO!!!" She shouted. She grabbed Caroline's hand and led her inside.

“Mmm…I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory.. is this where it gets me? Will I finally be with my..mom?” Briar moaned, coughing up blood. The pain was throbbing all throughout her body.
