Damian laughed so hard he almost fell over. "I like this character of yours better." Once he was done he took a wrap and patched up the wound on his shoulder. "I have many hidden talents, I just don't get to show them often because for some reason almost everyone in this run down town hates me." Still he had no idea why. "I don't think people would appreciate you making me a noble."
“I don’t care what people think, I’ll be their king so they’ll just have to deal with it,” Edwin said plainly, too tired to keep up the commoner act.
(Can I join?)
(Yep!)
"I've met Princess Savannah once." King huh? Damian wasn't sure if he wanted to be noble, maybe he could be a doctor for the Queen and King. "She's really beautiful." Although she probably doesn't remember him. "Wait, why aren't you with her now?"
“She got shot in the leg, I came out here with two intentions: Meeting the man who makes venison and, more efficiently, draw out the attacker while I’m out here alone. Right now she’s at medical attention in the palace,” Edwin explained plainly, moving his good arm to rest his head on his forearm.
"I see," Damian wasn't sure what to say. "Once you heal more I'll take you back to the castle." He got some water and set in in front of Edwin. "I'm going to go finish the elk, when I'm done you should be able to move around better."
“Okay,” Edwin responded dejectedly. He didn’t want to go back to the palace. People would fawn over him, Maxwell would probably scold him. He just wanted to stay out here with Damian, and hide from all his responsibilities… Edwin lifted his head up to look at Damian, the hopeful idea rooting into Edwin’s head, “Can I stay here?”
"You can do what you like." He shrugged and walked out his back door. He put his goggles back on his face and continued. Doing this job took a lot of arm movement which made his arm start hurting a bit more.
Edwin rested his eyes closed. He didn’t want to go back to the palace and if Damian truly meant it… He could disguise himself… He could learn to hunt too… He could carry his own weight once his shoulder healed. Edwin could live just like that, just Edwin. He could abandon his ‘Prince’ title. The idea seemed so foreign he was sure it was a product of the attacker, the rush in his head, but it didn’t matter as he fell into a happy slumber.
It was hours before Damian came back inside. "Alright done. Are you hungry?" He pulled some elk meat the had been drying in his meat shack for a while. "Is stew okay? It's been getting colder out, so I figured stew is good."
(Edwin nooo don't abandon your responsibilities remember Savannah aaaaaAAAAAAA)
(Lol)
Edwin woke up with a lazy smile, and he sat up, “Stew sounds amazing,” Edwin cocked his head to the side, “How did you butcher the elk with that injury?”
(Edwin nooo don't abandon your responsibilities remember Savannah aaaaaAAAAAAA)
(This rp reminds me of this hilarious book called “to be or not to be”. It like a parody choose-you-story of Hamlet and I about die every time I read it)
(lol)
"Pushed through the pain and got it done." Chooping the meat into little pieces, he moved over to put some water in a pot. "If I didn't it would have gone to waste and I hated wasting food." He glance over at Edwin and realized he was still on the table. "Let's move you to the couch where its move comfortable."
Edwin looked at the table sheepishly, “Sorry, I fell asleep on it,” He sat up then stood, but didn’t move to the couch. He walked over closer to Damian, “Can you teach me?”
(I feel like this is a Jedi/Padawin relationship lol)
"To cook?" He lifted up his wooden spoon. Now he would have to really scrub and sanitize the table before they could eat there. It would be nice to have some help.
“To- To do everything,” Edwin started, wringing his hands, “To cook, to hunt, to clean, to…” Live. Edwin glanced up at Damian nervously, “I want to abandon my post.”
(Poor Savannah, first she got shot in the leg then her betrothed doesn’t want to be king)
(EDWIN NO COME BAAAACK)
(YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE YOUR GUARD WILL LITERALLY COME FIND YOU AND DRAG YOU BACK YOU STUPID CHILD)
"Hm. Well," Looking Edwin up and down. Giving him easy stuff at first should be fine. "You need to build more muscle." He was scrawny compared to Damian. "How about you peel some potatoes for me. Then when we are done eating we can go cut fire wood." That would be a good start to building muscle.
(My sister’d eating lunch rn, Maxwell shan’t come anytime soon! HAHAHAHAHA EDWIN CAN RUN FREE!!!)
Edwin smiled when Damian didn’t outright reject the idea, and went to start peeling potatoes. It took a few tries and a few close calls before he got the hang of it, but Edwin peeled potatoes well after that.
"Now dice them." Damian didn't even look back at him. He was busy still cutting the meat. Cooking the meat always tasted better when it was cooked over a fire. He would have to start that soon. There was a fire pit outside and he used special wood for cooking, so it would leave a good smokey taste to it.
(Oh my. I see why my sis was chuckling a few minutes ago.)
Edwin’s cuts were sloppy at first, but just like peeling he got the hang of it and finished. Edwin looked a Damian with a proud glint in his eyes, “Want me to start on the wood now?”
"Its dangerous out there at night. Will you be able to protect yourself?" Grabbing the potatoes Edwin cut he threw them in the pot of water so they would soften.
Maxwell had tried chasing after that assassin and then passed out from blood loss. Fortunately, the palace guards had found him and stitched him back up. Although, when Maxwell woke up he had a bad feeling he couldn’t shake. Then, he remembered his price was still out there. Despite the doctor’s word of warning, Maxwell got out of bed and rushed to find his prince. He found a little commoner‘s shack that prince had been rumored to be in. Maxwell knocked on the door and shouted, “Open up in the name of King Orfeild (that’s Edwin’s daddy)!”
"Great." Damian sighed and pushed Edwin in a hidden bunker her had under his floor, before walking to the door. "May I help you?"
Edwin tensed, staring at pounding on the door. It was Maxwell. The ex-prince looked at Damian desperately, “I don’t want to go back.”
