"Never mind" Alex said in answer to her earlier question "I don't really care" She laid back and began to float on her back

Kaden had, for some bizarre reason, walked by the lake on his way to his secret hideout. When he noticed his sister in the water, his eyes widened. "Alex." He hissed and waved her over.

Ryker came out of the water to laugh. "First, you look like you have something wrong with your eye. Second, hot stuff? Really?" he said, winking quickly and exaggeratedly when he says 'something wrong with your eye'.

"What?" Alex asked once she got to the shore and walked over to her half brother

She snorted. "One, I don't wink like that. It's cute when I do it. It's not whatever you just did. And two, yes. That is my nickname for you hot stuff. I'm not changing, so don't even try to make me."

Kaden looked down at her. "Children of Hades remember? I don't think it's very smart to swim in water. Poseidon's domain, remember? He doesn't really dad, and therefore us. So, swimming in the water, not the smartest choice." He knew he was being an overprotective little shit, but he didn't care.

"You've got to be kidding me." Ryker says, rolling his eyes. He watches Alex leave the water. "Don't leave me with her!" he exclaims, gesturing to Phoebe.

She narrowed her eyes at him. "I'm not some sort of monster you need saving from." She crossed her arms.

"Fine can I at least go in knee deep?" Alex said looking up at Kaden in the shadows. "Ill be back in a minute, I would never wish for someone to be stuck with her" She called back to Ryker

"You sure about that?" Ryker replies, raising an eyebrow at her. He notices that she's getting mad, so he smiles. "I'm joking, chill."

"I don't feel comfortable with you in water. And I certainly don't feel comfortable with you hanging around guys. Guys are jerks. You don't need them. They're not good enough for you." He said.

Phoebe rolled her eyes at him and scoffed at Alex. "Whatever." She walked back to her towel. She shook off the sand and started to dry off.

"I agree with you that they are jerks but some times there are decent ones, like Ryker" Alex hissed up at Kaden while she placed her hand on her hips. "Ill stay out of the water ok? Ill just be on the beach"

"Man, everyone's so annoyed today." Ryker groans, lying on his back in the water.

Elizabeth sat on the floor and started making a daisy crown.

"I don't care if he isn't a jerk, he isn't good enough for you. I'm the only man you need in your life, me and whichever other brothers that show up."

"That didn't sound right!" Ryker exclaims, smirking at Kaden.

"I will be fine" Alex said to her brother. "anyways if i ever need rescuing from some big bad boy ill come to you, ok?" She told him sarcastically, she turned about to head back to the beach

"That's because you piss them off, Ryker." She said. "People get annoyed and pissed when they're antagonized. Teasing can only go so far before it's not fun anymore. And I know. I'm a daughter of Aphrodite. Everyone teases and makes fun of me because they only see someone to hook up with. They think I only care about my appearance. There's more to me than just what I look like." At this point, she was mostly ranting to herself as she finished drying and packed up her things.

Kaden rolled his eyes. "When some little boy breaks your heart, remember that I warned you." He said.

"And on that day I will say you were right, but until then I will live my life" Alex told him never planning on telling him that seriously but if it would make him feel better she would

"I'm a kid of Ares, pissing people off is the only thing I know how to do," Ryker said. It was meant to be a joke, but it had a hint of seriousness.

"Haven't pissed me off yet" Alex said under her breath but she probably said it to loud, she normally did

"Well, that's a good thing." Ryker replies, swimming to the shore.

"yeah" Alex said sitting down on the warm, sandy beach. She wished to go back to the water but she didn't, as over protective as Kaden was he was right about the water

He sighed. "I hate how stubborn you are. I blame it on dad." He ruffled her hair. "Be careful. And I'll kill anyone who touches you." He said

Elizabeth looked for some different flowers to weave into her daisy crown.

" I know" Alex replied with a small smile "You should make a blue and violet flower crown Elizabeth" she called to the girl

Phoebe looked Ryker. "You're godly parent doesn't dictate who you are. Just because your dad is Ares, doesn't mean you have to be the big tough guy like he is. Don't be afraid to be yourself." She said as she slipped on her sandals. "I'll see you all at the campfire for the sing-along." She waved goodbye and walked off.

He smiled down at her. His siblings were the only ones who could get any emotion out of him. "Don't go in the water." He warned again before disappearing into the shadows.
