he nodded and his arm was covered in a thick layer of obsidian and he made a slow sweeping strike "my next attack will have to hit though…. people will think i've grown soft…"

She blocked his attack skillfully and nodded. She knew that she would take hits in real combat, and she needed to control Jocelyn when out happened. And what was practice for?

Alex followed through with his sweeping strike but all the momentum had been transferred to his other obsidian covered arm and with almost blinding speed another sweeping strike was made.

Evie was thrown back by the powerful force off the attack, crying out when she hit the mat again.
Come on… Let ME fight him!
"No, Jocelyn," Evie said firmly and aloud. She pushed herself up and prepared for another attack.

Alex held his palms out and 2 orbs of obsidian shot from his hands (sorry about the long delay between messages, internet is all over the place)

Vincent clenched his fist nervously as he watched the fight, Come on Evie keep her under control The worry visible on his face.

Evie managed to block both of them, but her focus was on repressing Jocelyn, so the shield she created wasn't enough. She was knocked back again.

Ice crystals formed on Vincent hands and he fought to calm down, She'll be fine, it'll be ok trust her

Evie stood, her eyes red. This was her power, not Jocelyn's. She put her hands out, like she was touching an invisible wall and red springs of power came from her palms.

"kid, hit me. that energy and easily pin me." he slammed his fists into the ground causing the earth below them to shake.

Evie took a moment to steady herself and sent a shockwave of power rushing towards him.

the force of the shock wave sent him basically flying backwards and knocked the air out of his lungs. "ok… ow….that was a very good hit…" he steadied himself trying to catch his breath

0:30 remained on the timer.

Evie lowered her hands, but her eyes stayed red. "No, Jocelyn."

"kid… pin me…" he stomped the ground and a pillar of obsidian almost hit her in the spine but stopped right before it hit. that would set her off… can't do that…

Evie gasped and whirled around, backing away sharply from the pillar. She turned to face Alex.

"do it…" he said with an voice that sounded like scraping metal as he sprinted toward Evie

Evie held up her hands quickly, sending Alex flying backwards. The second his back hit the mat, she pinned his legs together and his arms to his sides. The timer ran out. She released him, breathing heavily.

"ow…" he slowly got up and stumbled to Evie "good job kid." he winced in pain as he reset his wrist "that was a very good duel." he chuckled "very good job."

Vincent started breathing again, "See what did I tell you, control is key." he whispered almost not saying anything at all.

Alice gave Alex a small smile as she patted the spot next to her. "Nice Job."

"she packs quite a punch…" he sat next to Alice and popped his back.

"Thats ok, wait ARE YOU OK?!?!?!?" She calmy asked him.

"Yeah, she just knocked the wind out of me…" he coughed a few times "I'm fine though."

"Go to the nurse.' Alice sternly ordered.

"nothing is bro-" he was cut off by a sharp pain in his chest "ok… something might be broken… I'll get one of the healers…"

Evie rushed over to Alex. When she reached him, her hands covered her mouth in shock. "I'm so sorry, are you okay?" she asked quickly.

"Its fine, we'll just get him to the nurse….again." Alice emphasized the last word with a shade of sarcasm as she dragged Alex to the nurses' office.

Evie followed slowly. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she whispered over and over.

"It's fine, really it's ok," Alice replied, a bit surprised and nerved she was following them. "Let's just give him some space, ok?" She really didn't want to sound rude to her friend.

Evie stopped abruptly, her eyes filling quickly with tears. Look at what you did. That wasn't Jocelyn. That was YOU.
