Vin groaned gently and stood up slowly.
Vin groaned gently and stood up slowly.
Vien got up after him, nearly stumbling and falling backwards in the process
Vin grabbed Vien and pushed him upright. "Whoa there."
Vien laughed a bit. "I really shouldn't get up so fast," he chuckled, feeling slightly dizzy as he leaned on Vin
"I'm telling you, it's a problem." Vin took some of Vien's weight with a smile.
"I think it's just because of my meds. They make me dizzy sometimes," Vien said with a shrug. He righted himself after a moment, a hand running through his messy hair out of habit
Vin patted Vien's arm. "If you say so." He grinned and continued walking.
Vien walked with him, smiling as he took Vin's hand
Vin hummed gently and paused occasionally as a child ran across their path. "Hm… children are so odd."
"I can't believe I ever was one," Vien chuckled. He watched the child go, a smile quirking at the corner of his lip. He had always wondered if he would make a good father in the future, though he was too scared to even offer to babysit for his friend
"Same. I always wondered what it was like to be grown up, now I forget how it's like to be a child."
"I didn't have much of a childhood, so I wouldn't be able to help you. I had to grow up far faster than any child should have," Vien mumbled, a bit of sadness creeping into his tone
Vin squeezed his hand. "Shh. Let's enjoy our walk."
"I'm enjoying it, I'm enjoying it," Vien assured him
"Mhm. I don't want you getting sad on me. Then I'll be sad." He grinned at Vien.
"Oh, you shouldn't be sad just because I'm sad. And I'm not sad," Vien said with a small huff
"It's emotions." Vin laughed. "And you'd better not be."
"I'm not," Vien insisted. "I was just thinking of when I was a kid, that's all."
"Yeah, then you got all sad. Don't try and hide it."
"I'm not sad," Vien tried to insist. He was lying of course, but he didn't want Vin to feel bad
Vin glared at him. "I've known you long enough to know when you're lying."
Vien sighed, frowning a tad as he did so. "Okay, yes, you're right. I was a little sad, but I'm not anymore."
"Mhm." Vin didn't sound like he believed what Vien said, and merely continued walking.
Vien frowned down at his feet a little. Now he felt bad for making Vin upset, and that really made him a little sad
Vin squeezed the other's hand. "Cheer up. We're gonna go on a picnic and enjoy it."
"I know, I'm the one who suggested it," Vien said, chuckling a little to hide the fact that he still felt a little bad
"And you're gonna enjoy it," Vin repeated and nudged Vien.
"I never said I wouldn't enjoy it," Vien said, smiling as Vin nudged him
"Well, I won't let your thoughts get in the way of that." Vin nudged Vien again, noticing the other's smile.
"They won't, I promise," Vien said, his smile growing wider as he felt something warm and happy in his chest. He really did appreciate the effort Vin put into making him feel happy
