"It's just like a puppy! You've been doing it fine for the past couple days!" Gij snapped back. Sobex flailed harder and stronger and nothing happened.
"It's just like a puppy! You've been doing it fine for the past couple days!" Gij snapped back. Sobex flailed harder and stronger and nothing happened.
"Gij, calm down, please." Sia pleaded.
Sobex barked loudly in the middle of Gij's response. Gij shoved the flailing dragon into her chest and walked past her, determined not to look back.
Sia collapsed on the ground tears in her eyes. "Fine. I can't make you change your mind. Good luck out there Gij." She broke off starting to cry.
(Is she being overly emotional?)
(No, it's great. Unless that's what her character's like…)
Gij paused near the door. "Look, I don't want to leave you like this, but you have to understand! I'm… I'm dangerous!"
(Well, I'd probably have start crying as soon as it started getting heated .-.)
"Everyone is." Sia said quietly.
"But… I'm part dragon. And… dragons are a lot more dangerous than humankind. I don't want to leave you and Sobex… I have to." His voice sounded heavy with regret.
"Sometimes the human mind can prove to be more dangerous then the greatest beast. Gij, I don't care that your part dragon. You are more human then most full-blooded humans."
Gij shook his head weakly. "Sia… why do you want me to stay so badly? For all you know I could be as dangerous as a human… that…"
"I… I like you Gij." Sia blushed violently. WHy had she said that!? She'd only known him for a day!
Gij's face slowly turned red. "Like… like? Why…? I'm… I'm terrible!"
"Because you rescued a dragon pup, regardless of the consequences, not caring whether or not you were caught, because they were abusing him. You've kept on going despite what life's thrown at you. I admire that."
Gij made a faint noise in his throat, and he looked ashamed about something.
"You're… you're the type of person I was waiting for at age 7. Locked in a cellar and scared to death, I hoped someone would find me and take me away."
Lock… locked in a cellar? Oh god… He didn't say anything, yet he felt his shame deepen.
"So… that's why I like you. You have the courage to push on through life, and help others, despite the odds and how unfair life is."
Gij swallowed against a lump, shame welling up in his throat and making him feel sick.
Sia rubbed a hand across her face, drying her eyes, and waiting for Gij to say something.
Gij gasped gently against it and nodded. "I get it." His voice was faint.
(?)
(What? He gasped against the lump in his throat and said "I get it.")
(Okay, wasn't sure why he was gasping)
"I'm coming with you." She stated, though it sounded more like a question.
(Ah)
"I… I'm not leaving." Gij murmured. "We can't."
"Okay." She took a deep breath. I hope no one heard us though. We were getting kind of loud. "I'm going to have a glass of water. Do you want one?"
"Yes, please." He quietly replied. He looked around for Sobex and found him trembling under a table, wrapped up in his wings and his nose under his tail.
Sia smiled slightly. "Alright." She walked into the kitchen and filled a couple of cups.
Gij walked over to the pup and kneeled down. "Hey, Sobex it's okay."
Sobex gave a frightened yap.
Sia quick grabbed a bowl and filed it too. Just incase Sobex was thirsty.
"Come on, pal… we've stopped fighting. I'm not gonna leave."
Sobex shook more violently under the table and yapped quietly again.
Sia walked back into the living room, the bowl in one hand, one glass in her other hand, and the second glass in the crook of her elbow. She set the glasses and bowl down on the table. "Hey Sobex, ya thirsty?"
