"It's gonna be okay," Hunter said, standing up to hug Kenzie. "I'm sure it's just an upset stomach. Hopefully." He pressed a light kiss to her forehead. "Come on, let's sit down."
The nurse came back a minute later to collect the sample. She turned to Hunter and Kenzie with a light smile.
"The doctor will be here in a few minutes," she said to them. "Your test result will be given to you in fifteen to thirty minutes."
And then she walked out, closing the door behind her.
(I do not know how long it takes for them to finish the urine test.)
(Lol. Neither do I.)
Kenzie gave Hunter a small smile as she sat beside him. “Yeah… I’m sure it’ll be fine. Nothing too bad,” she sighed, leaning against him.
After a while, the doctor entered the room with a file in her hands, her face blank. Hunter stood up immediately.
"Hello," the doctor said, finally smiling. She turned to Kenzie. "You must be McKenzie. I'm Dr. Jenna. How are you today?"
Kenzie stood as well, taking Hunter’s hand in her own. “Well, I’m at the hospital, so not great,” she joked with a nervous chuckle.
The doctor smiled brightly.
"Well, I'm here with your test," she said, handing Kenzie the file. "You don't have any sort of illnesses. Not anything we found in your urine test." She paused for a little, making Hunter swallow thickly. "Of course, there is something that's causing the reaction in your body. Please do read the document."
“Oh. All— All right,” Kenzie said as she took the file. “Do I need to read it here? Or am I able to go home?”
"You can read it," the doctor replied. "Once you're done, I'll give you the basics that you'll need."
Hunter peered over Kenzie's shoulder, trying to see what was written.
(You can act out the doctor, too!)
(Ehhhh… Lol. I rarely ever go to the doctor anymore, so I don’t really remember what goes on. :P)
Kenzie nodded and sat back down as she opened the file. As she read through it, she gasped quietly with widened eyes.
“Hunter… Did you read this?” she asked, turning to look at him softly as she grinned.
Hunter frowned, taking the file from Kenzie. His skimmed quickly before they widened.
“Hold… hold on,” he rubbed his eyes before reading again, whipping his head towards his excited wife. “You’re… you’re pregnant…”
“Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. McArthur!” The Doctor beamed happily for us, clapping quietly.
Hunter looked at the file again, a heavy feeling in his heart. It was really happening. He was going to be a father. He couldn’t believe it. What if he was a terrible father? What if he ended up being like his father? What if the child hated him?
“I can’t believe this…” he whispered to himself in disbelief.
“I’ll let you both be alone for a while,” the doctor said, excusing herself as Hunter set the file down on the counter next to him.
“You’re pregnant,” he repeated as if delivering a news. “You’re actually pregnant!”
“Looks like it,” Kenzie said, still grinning over at him. She glanced down at herself and rubbed a hand across her stomach gently. “I wonder if it’ll be a boy or a girl…”
Hunter immediately engulfed her in a hug, inhaling deeply.
"This is amazing…" he murmured, hugging her tightly. "We're going to be parents, Kenzie!"
Kenzie giggled and hugged him back tightly, burying her face in his chest. “I know. Gosh, this is amazing… I can’t— Wow. We’ll need to pick out names! And decorate one of the extra bedrooms to be a nursery!”
"I knew we were going to have kids, but I didn't think it was going to be this soon!" Hunter grinned. "I can't wait to tell everyone. They'll be thrilled!"
“Everyone is going to be so excited,” Kenzie said, pulling away to grin at Hunter. “I think I have to come in for an ultrasound in a couple of weeks… Do you want to come with?”
"Do I?" Hunter repeated. "Of course I want to. Damn it, Kenzie, I think I'm freaking out. What if I'm not a good enough father? What if the kid dislikes me? What if it turns out to be a mommy's child and completely ignores me?"
Kenzie gently took his face in her hands and smiled up at him. “Hunter. You are going to be a great father. Our child will love you. If anything, they’ll be a daddy’s child and ignore me,” she added with a slight chuckle. “Trust me.”
(Akjashdjajsjwksoak this is adorable)
(Akjashdjajsjwksoak this is adorable)
(I know right?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!)
(KENZIE THAT WAS SO ADORABLE.)
Kenzie gently took his face in her hands and smiled up at him. “Hunter. You are going to be a great father. Our child will love you. If anything, they’ll be a daddy’s child and ignore me,” she added with a slight chuckle. “Trust me.”
Hunter smiled back.
"I'm pretty sure they won't ignore you," he laughed. "I'm just worried. I don't want our child to go through what I went through–what we both went through. We both had a rough childhood. I don't want our child to go through the same thing."
“Then let’s do our best to make sure that doesn’t happen to them,” Kenzie said before reaching up to peck his lips.
Hunter hummed in response just as the doctor reentered.
"I've prepared a date for your ultrasound," she said, handing Kenzie another paper. She then informed Kenzie of what she should focus on in terms of her health and what she should avoid doing. After fifteen minutes or so, they were excused.
"I think I know how to surprise the others," Hunter grinned as they walked out, Hunter having his arms wrapped around his pregnant wife.
“And how is that?” Kenzie asked with a grin as they made their way to the car.
“Leo likes surprises,” Hunter told her. “It sounds cliché, though. What if we give them something they have to open, and in it we have the baby’s picture? Or ‘Congratulations! You’re an uncle/aunt.’ Something like that.”
