"Honestly, knowing her shes probably in a tight spot, especially being back here." Uriah really wished he brought his sword with him. "Do you by any chance have another weapon on you?" He was not about to go where Zhavia was without a weapon on him.
"I have a crossbow, a couple of daggers, and my sword," Cyrus answered. He frowned a little. "Why do you walk places without a weapon? You're living quite the dangerous life, aren't you?"
"I suppose so. Can I have one your daggers?" He asked not slowing down his pace. Uriah pushed a button for the elevator and it dinged before the doors opened. If she was anywhere it would have to be his office, or Uriah at least hoped.
Cyrus unclipped a dagger from his belt and handed it over.
"Let's leave this place as we found it," he said, switching off the light, "The less likely they are to know we're here, the better."
"This elevator is empty, let's go." He nodded into the elevator and walked in. "The office is on the third floor." There's definitely going to be more people up there, Uriah can just feel it.
"Okay."
Cyrus was beginning to feel more uneasy. He wasn't sure if the people of the guild knew they were there yet, but if they didn't, they were probably about to find out. His breathing quickened a little as they rode up in the elevator; he didn't know what to expect at the top, and truly he would have preferred to never find out.
As soon as the door open a man was already standing there. "I.D." In his hands was a long spear, Uriah hasn't seen one of those on a long time. "Right, sorry." He took the badge that was hanging off his collar and handed it to the man. He stood close so the man wouldn't see Cyrus. "Researchers aren't permitted to be up here." Uriah rolled his eyes. "Fine, I guess I'll tell the boss man you didn't let me up to talk about my big discovery." Uriah looked down to the mans name tag. "Roy." Roy's face turned and it looked like pry standing in front of a predator. "Sorry, you can pass." Uriah gave him a smile. "This is my guard he's coming with." Uriah pushed past Roy and walked away.
Cyrus followed behind Uriah.
"Something's not right," he muttered, "They were very lax. It must be a trap."
He was making sure his face wasn't very visible, and he kept one hand rested on the hilt of his sword. Trouble was just around the corner, he was almost certain.
"Has anyone ever told you, that you are a very paranoid person?" Uriah looked back at him over his shoulder. "I do agree, but there's nothing we can do if it's a trap." His hand tapped his pants pocket to make sure the dagger was still there.
"Yes, I'm quite paranoid, but I'm often right," Cyrus replied, "And if that does happen, we just start stabbing people and making a run for it. Don't know what else to do at this point. Are there other exits? Any windows, that sort of thing?"
"There's windows in each room, it's fine, we'll make it." Honestly theres not much noise up here, so Either everyone is downstairs or they know about them. "Excuse me." Uriah knocked on the office door. No answer. "Did we seriously come up here fofor no reason. "What are you doing up here everyone is downstairs welcoming an old friend." A girl yelled running past them with a beer in her hand. "Well, damn." Uriah ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "Back down we go. Now we have to be careful if everyone is downstairs."
"Right…" Cyrus muttered. He followed Uriah again, keeping watch. He didn't realize it at first, but his hands were trembling, and his heart was racing. Every part of him said something had to go wrong.
A crowd of people were gathered downstairs and Zhavia was in the middle of them. They chanted her name and spilled their beer on her, which was a thing they did here to welcome people. "This is going to be a lot harder then I thought. "Alraight, yes I'm back but please calm down." A guy about Zhavia's age pushed through the crowd and ran up to her wrapping her in a hug. "Ty?" He was a lot taller then her now and not as scrawny. "Whoa, okay not cool." Uriah said even though Ty couldn't hear him. "We have to push through this crowd." And that's what Uriah started to do.
Cyrus joined in. He figured between them being busy celebrating Zhavia's return and Cyrus being within a sea of faces, no one would recognize him at the time. He pushed through after Uriah and tried to draw closer to Zhavia, but couldn't. He could have begun to knock people over, but he figured it wasn't exactly the best way to reveal his presence. He tried to subtly get Zhavia's attention with hand motions.
Uriah got to the front of the crowd and crossed his arms. He didn't know who this kid was and what their relationship is, he just wanted him to let go. Zhavia saw Cyrus in the crowd and gave him a look asking were Uriah was since he wasn't with him.
"Dammit," Cyrus muttered. He shrugged back, wide-eyed. He had just seen Uriah seconds ago, and now he was just another face lost in the crowd. Cyrus ran a hand through his brown curls, becoming increasingly nervous. It was only a matter of time before things would start to go downhill.
Zhavia sighed and looked around a bit more when her eyes locked with Uriah's staring at her. She slowly pushed Ty away her eyes moving from Uriah's to Ty's. "Its so nice to see you. Okay parties over everyone should get back to work." Everyone booed as they dispersed. She knew that would help Uriah and Cyrus a bit. "Alright Ty you should head back as well." He shook his head a took her hand. "I have to show you some poisons I've been working on." She used to be able to fight him off but he's gotten stronger. "Really?" Uriah complains. "I'm always chasing after this girl." He let out a breath of air waiting for Cyrus so they can go after her.
(Im here, I was busy, writing…..and crying. (BUT IN A GOOD WAY.)
(I has to go for a bit but I shall be back!)
"We don't have time for this," Cyrus snarled, "We need to get what we came for and leave."
He began to pick up the pace a bit.
"I know, and she knows. We have to get that Ty guy to go away." Uriah would admit but he was a bit jealous. "Ty, really I have to be going." He dragged her into a room and turned on the light. Ty's hand wrapped around her throat as he pinned her against a wall. "Why did you come back?" He hated her for leaving him behind and he knew she wouldn't come back for a reason. "I have something special for you." He put the building on lock down so she couldn't get out and people can get in. "While you were gone I crawled my way to the top." He let go of her a she gasped for air. "It may not seem like it," he pused getting a bottle with blue liquid in it and put it in a syringe. "To the top?" He can't mean. "I call the shots around here." He smiled. Red lights start flashing and a siren's go off. "What the hell is happening?" Uriah yelled over the loud noise.
"Bad things," Cyrus replied, almost too calmly. Then he shouted, "Let's get her and make a run for it. I have a bad feeling she's in trouble!" He pulled out his crossbow and readied a bolt. "I swear… if that boy dared to hurt her, I'll shoot him in the face."
"The doors won't open." Ty, made sure she knew that she wasn't getting out. "What do you want Ty?" Zhavia's eyes go cold as she stands and dusted herself off. "I want you gone, plain and simple. You are a obstacle in my way." He leaned against a table. "Sorry. Your not the only one. You have a friend I need gone as well and you know her quiet well." Shaking his head he corrected himself. "Actually you don't know her as well as you think, but I'll keep names to myself." Zhavia racked her brain for who he maybe talking about. "I don't think she even knows I'm after her." Ty pulled Zhavia closer and looked at her scar. "Sorry, gone." She gave him a devilish smile. Uriah began banging on the door. "Zhavia are you in there?" Seriously, she always gets into situations like this! "Cyrus is there anyway you know how to undo a lock down?"
Meanwhile, outside the ruined Red Fang base:
Krista was perched in a tree. She had collected numerous new items from Eden, including an upgraded voice modulator, as well as a new set of gauntlets -that packed a very distinct punch- and an upgrade to her disguiser.
Taylor had also left her some new poisons, as well as some chocolate. Just to eat.
"I can learn," Cyrus answered, "Only problem is, I'm not sure how it was put on to begin with. Maybe if I just…" He leaned his crossbow upwards, towards the flashing red siren, aimed, and released. The siren shattered, but the alarms still blared, and as for the doors, they were still all locked.
"Okay… next plan. The alarms and locks are probably centralized, but… that also means that if someone has got Zhavia, we have to run there and run back, and there may not be enough time."
"Damn it!" Think Uriah, Ty is obviously the one who did this and if he's in the same room as her, then something in there must have locked the building down which means it can unlock it, right? "Zhavia look around for something to unlock the building!" Zhavia's eyes darted around the room for anything that may look like it could open the locks. "Friends of yours?" Zhavia punched Ty in the gut which made him stumble back. She ran behind him. The room was full of bottles with different colored liquids. "Zhavia, come on." Ty turned to face her. "Where is it Ty?" He knew what she wanted, the unlock switch. "I'm not dumb, I'm not telling you." She smiled and put her hand on his glass shelf full of his drug and poisons. "Say good bye to your hard work." It wasn't heavy at all, she barely had to push it to for it to fall over and shatter. "You little!" There was a small window that led right outside. It wasn't big but she could possibly make it through. "Cyrus, Uriah go outside and get ready!"
"Ready for what?" Cyrus shouted over the blaring. He knew he had to trust her, or he was not going to make it out. "Whatever. Come on Uriah!"
Cyrus was running, but then it occurred to him. "Wait, how, exactly, are we getting out?"
