Earbuds in, Frankie sat, nodding her head to the music. She looked up and was shocked when she saw a familiar face. It couldn't be. This wasn't possible. "D-d-dad?"

Mackenzie stirred, then woke up. She looked at Zander. "Who awe you???"

"They're having a debate about that." Ace grinned weakly, his purple eyes kind of clouded over.

"Is this some sort of cruel joke? Something to throw me off your scent? Are you here to collect me?" Angry tears now streaked her face. "TELL ME" She screamed.

"Hi, I'm Dani's boyfriend, and I supposed to be watching you and Ellis till the girls come back from their shopping trip." Zander said looking down at the little girl who had just stirred.AHHHHHH SHE'S AWAKE NOW! CAN I STILL WATCH THEM?! I MAY NOW BE OUT OF MY DEPTH!

"You've gotta stay alive. You promised." Blake was using childlike reasoning in order to cope with the situation. Ace promised he'd be alive so Ace had to be alive.

Mackenzie squinted at Zander.

Blake squeezed Ace's hand weakly and sank down in the chair next to his bed. A nurse came by, checking Ace's vitals and cleaning up Blake's hands and face. "Thanks, man." He said it teasingly, knowing it could be one of the last times he did.

Mackenzie made a duck face at him. "No. Don't huwt my couwsin." She commanded him.

"You're welcome, man." Ace grinned and then was injected with a pain-numbing drug. "This isn't the one that makes me spout nonsense, is it?"
