Tara walked back to her room, seeing Paige's door open and spotting her in the bathroom, with Cas and Josh, who were patching her up.
Tara walked back to her room, seeing Paige's door open and spotting her in the bathroom, with Cas and Josh, who were patching her up.
Paige opened her mouth to continue, but her eyes wandered out the door and meet Tara's. Her gaze begged for time to talk.
Tara gave a gentle nod and pointed towards her room, which was across the hall from Paige's.
Paige looked back at Josh. The cuts were cleaned and bandaged. "Thank you, Josh." Her eyes had cleared for the most part and she smiled a little.
Josh nodded and packed up the medkit
Paige hugged Josh tightly for a moment, then went into Tara's room. "Uh… hey."
Tara was sitting on her bed. "Hi."
"I just wanted to talk to you about something," Paige slid down her sleeves, but she still was covering the logo.
Tara nodded. "Close the door. Open doors make me anxious. "
Paige closed the door. "I'm sorry."
Tara shrugged. "Why should you be?" She asked, more of a statement than a question.
Paige couldn't come up with an answer right away. "Uh…"
Tara nodded. "That's what I thought."
Paige was suddenly hit with hundreds of things that she felt like saying, but she held them back. "I was telling John a little about my life before I came here. And i wanted to tell you that and some other things."
Tara nodded. "Fire away."
Paige took a deep breath, starting the same way she had with John, except adding in little details. "I live in Bel Air Maryland with my parents and little sister. I'm… a rich kid. My mom is a neurosurgeon and my dad runs his own company. I didn't try to be a rich kid. But other kids… Other kids didn't like it. They didn't like me. They would beat me out of jealousy. The teachers didn't care, except for one. She… She… "
Tara nodded for Paige to continue.
Paige breathed deeply. "She got fired for 'reasons of conscience'." Her fingers balled up into fists.
Tara walked over to Paige and pulled her into a hug.
Paige loosened into the hug. She made sure not to get any leftover traces of blood on Tara's shirt.
"Paige, I know it doesn't feel like it now, but things are going to get better." Tara whispered.
"Do you promise? Like, really promise?" She didn't want to admit how gullible she'd been in the past with stupid promises.
Tara nodded. "Listen Paige. I'm not like other people. My promises mean business, okay? Are we clear?"
Paige nodded confirmingly. In the deep recesses of her heart, though, she was still doubtful.
Ryan walked to the kitchen now that he was alone. He felt better after getting it out in the air, yet also bare in a way. Ryan was so used to putting on a mask and not telling anyone about what he felt. He leaned against the kitchen counter.
(I forgot about cas!)
(Oh no!)
(T-T what should I do with him?)
(Uh… He could awkwardly eavesdrop and wait for Paige to leave Tara's room.)
Cas awkwardly stood outside Paige’s room
