"Thanks, Sia." Gij said again, before putting plenty of sugar and creamer in his coffee and drinking it all in one. Sobex made little purring noises and whapped his tail on the table.
"Not on the table, Sobex," Gij murmured in a strange, growly voice.
Sobex seemed to understand and just sat down dog-like next to Sobex on the table.
Artemisia tucked into her eggs. "Thanks. I didn't need him upsetting the salt and pepper shakers. That would've been a mess to clean up."
Gij glanced at Sobex. "Too right, huh, pal?"
Sobex purred again and licked Gij's face, and flapped his wings; his stripes began to glow a sunshine yellow.
"So do his stripes glow different colors depending on mood and emotion?" Artemisia asked, pushing her plate aside.
"Yeah, I suppose so." Gij responded, and Sobex bounded forward to lick up her scraps.

"Cool." She chuckled as Sobex gobbled up the scraps before becoming serious. "We should make a plan incase my apartment gets searched."

"I know what to do. So does Sobex. We talked it over last night."
Sobex yapped and slammed his tail down on the table.
"Sobex! Plus, I highly doubt they'll check here."
"Well, If Sobex keeps up a continuous chatter, they might. What's your plans if that happens?"
"Sobex, seidousoim." He growled the last word, then suddenly Sobex grew invisible.
"Only I can see him when he does this. And I'm the only one he can touch. Cool, huh?"
Artemisia nodded, impressed. "Yeah, cool! I didn't know dragons had so many abilities. What was that last word ya said? Sedosoyum or something?"
"Say-do-uso-ium. The counter's saysouideum." Suddenly, Sobex reappeared, yapping, thwapping his tail and flapping his wings.
"Is that a spell?" Artemisia asked, fascinated.
"Yeah." Gij glanced at her. "One of them. I can also use it on myself, but that's too much work for right now. I will if the apartment is searched, though."
"Okay, can you do it to the both of you at the same time, or is it too draining?"
"I can, but it just takes a lot of concentration. If they go near wherever I am, you're gonna have to try and bring them away. It can't break, or they'll see us. And it's really hard to bring back."
"Mm. We need an escape plan for incase things take a turn for the worst." She peered at Sobex. "He kind of looks like the Southern Pronged dragons that live farther south, so he might like it farther south if we ever need to skedaddle."
"Yeah, but how are we gonna get there?" Sobex yapped loudly and smacked his tail on the table as if wanting attention.
"Hmm? Oh, I suppose we could do that… He suggested that we run out of the way we came in yesterday, then maybe to your acquaintances' house. There, we could scrap together a fake identity for you, and you could get us a plane ride."
Artemisia nodded. "Yeah, I don't know my acquaintance very well, so she might not take well to a dragon and a couple of refugees dropping in on her. Also, Sobex could pipe down a bit, the walls are a bit thin."
Sobex made a faint purr in his throat and sat back down with a soft yap, to show he understood.
"Well, do you know anyone that is close by, and wouldn't mind?" Gij knew this was a bit of a stretch, but he had to try anyway.
Artemisia pondered the question. "Well… my cousin Aesani lives nearby. Farther then any friends or acquaintances in town, but more secure. And I trust her."
"Okay. We won't alert her, in case she does call the Sirens. Let's just hope they don't come at all." Gij nodded. "Otherwise, good plan, Sobex, and thanks, Sia."
"No problem Gij. I promise that there is no way I'm letting the Sirens take Sobex back." A dark look passed over her face. "They'll have to go through me first."
Gij grinned. "And me. I think being half-dragon will help us a lot in our situation."
Artemisia nodded, grinning too. "And if cuteness could kill, Sobex would have us covered for eternity."
"Awww." Gij cooed, as Sobex bounded forward and started licking Sia's face.
Sia started giggling and pet Sobex on the shoulder. "You're such a sweetie." She said, still giggling.
Sobex yapped and sat back down, a little dragon smile across his maw.
Gij laughed. "He's great. Nice and warm, too. At least I have him to sleep with for the rest of my life, huh, buddy?" Sobex yapped.
Sia smiled. "His scales are looking a lot better today too!"
Sobex laid down on his tummy, showing his healed scales.
