"Oh." Xanthe blinked again. "We already ate, so we'll stay up here."

"Okay." North walked downstairs and found Zackary in the kitchen. "Hey. Are you gonna close the portal after Cameron and Xanthe go to M's?"

Zackary shrugged and blew a brief raspberry. "I dunno. I should but it was hell getting it open."

"You don't have to. Cause it's going to get hard, I assume, living with four psychopaths. And you're the only marginally sane person I've met since being here."

Zackary giggled and even Ari smiled a bit.
Ari glanced at North, his hand still stroking Zackary's exceptionally pointy nose. "He's probably the most insane person you know."

North laughed. "True, true. But he's not my parents and he doesn't treat me like i'm 5 years old so that's gotta count for something."

"You should give your parents a chance," Ari said wisely as Zackary rose his face a little with a faint purr.

North sat down with a sigh. "Better to expect the worst."

(Zackary is a Demon. Same difference)
Ari shook his head and pulled Zackary closer, and continued the stroking of his nose.
"Xanthe and Cameron are very nice once you get to know them. You're just expecting the worst."

"Exactly. If I expect the worst then i'll be surprised at how great they are."

Ari chuckled and moved his fingers up to Zackary's forehead. Zackary's eyes opened into mismatched gray chips of anger.

(i actually really enjoy narrating Ari and Zackary but okay ^~^ it's probably really boring for you to read. So yes, time skip.)
"Do you want anymore before you go, North?" Ari asked tenderly. "You're awfully thin."
"Ari, she's not even part of your family. Lay off the concern."
"But she's so thiin… She's almost as thin as you!"
"No one can be as thin as me, in Ari's book," Zackary sighed sarcastically.

(no its adorable i just don't know what to do with myself lol)
"Thanks for the concern. I'm fine." She laughed a little.

Ari huffed and let it go. "Alright." He stood with Zackary and scuffed some crumbs off of his shoulder. "Be careful, okay?"
"I always am." Zackary grinned as Ari kissed him.
Eventually Ari let Zackary leave the house and Zackary took her back.

North said goodbye to Zackary and walked back to the mansion.

The mansion was peaceful and quiet. When she walked inside, she heard the low rumble of M talking quietly, and occasionally she'd hear the faint tone of Pax's voice; she couldn't make out what they were saying.

She walked closer to where they were, not wanting to intrude though.

"-we'd have to move the pool room, though." M was saying quietly.
"So what if we have to move the pool room? Neither of us uses it."
"I use it, it helps me keep weight off."
"You are gaining a lot of weight."
"Mhm."
"So what should we do?"
"I have no idea. Maybe the basement?"

North opened her mouth to say something, but decided not to, seen as they would probably stop talking when she entered the room.

M opened his mouth to say something, then closed it. "North? I can hear you over there. Welcome back." He looked over his shoulder. Pax peered over it too.

"What were you talking about?" She asked, walking over to them.
