North took some food and ate slowly.

The food was great. Eventually, Zackary had joined them and eaten his fill (Ari persisted he ate more since he just "Looked so thin"), and Cameron said his goodbye to his daughter, and Zackary took her back to M's.

North ran the rest of the way of the way to the mansion, smiling as she ran. M where are you?

M looked up from a book in the library, with Pax in his lap, leaned against his chest, reading a book of his own.
I'm in the library. What's up?

North ran into the library grinning widely. "Guess what!? Xanthe and Cameron are back!"

"What?" Pax exclaimed, dropping his book.
M put his book down peacefully. "Really?"

North nodded, waiting for M's reaction.

"Yeah..it was Zackary. I just met them. Xanthe says she misses you."

"Huh. Well, isn't that fun." Pax said and grinned up at M, whose face looked blank.

North's face fell as she watched M. "What's wrong?"

Pax looked at him and booped his nose. M's face still remained blank and lifeless.
"He's thinking." He said vaguely.

North looked at the ground, waiting for M to respond, or say anything.

A few minutes passed and Pax's expression grew steadily more worried. "M?"
M jumped and blinked a couple times. "Huh? Oh, sorry." He grinned sheepishly. "Just um… anyway, that's fantastic!" He sounded happy enough.

North smiled, still a bit confused. "Isn't it?! They're amazing."

M smiled a little wider. "Yeah, they are. Great people, too."
Pax snuggled into M's chest. "So happy…"

"Are you gonna go see them?"

"I can't," M admitted, "I'm kinda stuck here. But I totally would."
Pax grinned. "I might. But I wanna stay with M."

"Oh..are you sure? I mean i'm sure Neo wouldn't mind.."

"Ugh, but he's been really annoying lately." M murmured, more to himself.
"Yeah, he has, popping in and screeching about our safety, of which we don't even need to worry about."
M grunted his agreement.

North frowned. "He can't keep you here forever..can he?"

M sighed deeply. "He'll… certainly try."
Pax nodded.

North rolled her eyes and sat down.

Pax scrambled around so that he was facing her, and M simply turned his head.
"Look, sorry for the misunderstanding a couple days ago," M said after a few moments.

"It's okay, really. I overreacted." She said quietly, not meeting his eyes.

M noticed, narrowed his a little, and looked away again.
Pax looked in between them his head moving like a confused dog's.

North said nothing. Just kept her eyes trained on the floor.
