Blake was struggling to stay awake, even though Ace was making zero sense, which he assumed was the large dose of morphine he'd been given, having his hair played with felt nice. His eyelids fluttered shut, but he stayed semi-awake, peacefully listening to Ace's voice.
It's okay. She reassured him. Dani leaned her head onto his shoulder again.
(I found the best thing ever. "If something in your life goes wrong, just yell, "PLOT TWIST!" and move on." (This only works in some cases though.)
Sky walked absentmindedly down the hallway towards what she remembered was the hospital wing. She decided she would go visit Ace, since as far as she knew, he was there. She walked in, but saw Ace and Blake talking, so she decided to go farther in. When she was passing by, she noticed a flash of grey stoned skin, and turned towards it. "Macha?" She asked, walked towards the figure.
(Omg Natasha! Yes! PLOT TWIST!! @Nerd should be yelling PLOT TWIST right about now lol
Niki looked up. "Oh thank goodness. Can you stay with her? I have a new mission." Niki asked Skylar.
(Omg Natasha! Yes! PLOT TWIST!! @Nerd should be yelling PLOT TWIST right about now lol
(I also like yelling HAKUNA MATATA at the top of my lungs at random moments. Also, "AND DADDY, HE TOOK. MY. BOOT!!!" And, "JUST KEEP SWIMMING! JUST KEEP SWIMMING!" And a million other Disney quotes and song lyrics. I will literally do it at any given moment.)
"Sleep is so weird. Who wants bananas dancing on their eyelids? I say that the elephant deserves a chance with the antelope." Ace finished the braid, "There! You can rest in piece now, Blake! Do you like to bake? Or sit by lakes?" Ace was laughing to himself now, "Or eat cakes?"
Zander closed his eyes to think.I should probably go check on Kata later, and Lily. Then I still have to refill the adrenali– Wait you're listening to me list what I have to do, aren't you ?
Yup Dani transmitted, eating quietly.
"Shut up, man." Blake yawned, but picked his head drowsily up from Ace's lap. He began to scratch and claw at the blood on his feathers, while watching Ace out of the corner of his eye.
Zander laughed out loud. So what do you think of my to-do list? Anything to add?
"Blood. I see too much blood. There was blood everywhere." Ace's face went dark, "Blood's bad. It hurts. That place hurt me. Blood came out a lot. Rozer-Rum. He asked for it. The gun." he started to sweat, "He always had the gun. Me. Shooting practice. Clay pigeons go boom! Hurt me. Blood. Liked seeing my blood. Purple. Whip. The whip. Always slung over his back. I don't like poles. Rope burns. No. Blood," Ace huddled into a ball. "I see too much blood."
No, I think you're pretty much set. Do you think you have to add anything? Dani answered him.
"Hey, hey! Ace, look at me." Blake folded his wings and grabbed Ace's face gently in his hands, trying to make eye contact. "No blood. No more blood. You're with me. It's Blake. You're obnoxious little brother, remember? And I need you to stay with me. You have to stay with me." Blake's steely blue eyes met Ace's violet ones as he searched for responsiveness.
Yes… kiss girlfriend. Zander kissed Dani lightly on her forehead, on her nose, and then on her lips.
"No blood?" Ace whispered, eyes glistening.
Dani giggled as Zander kissed her. "I haven't giggled in like, years. And now I can't stop. You broke me!" She whined playfully
"No blood." Blake affirmed. "Just feathers." Blake shook a few of the loose ones from his ruffled wings, handing a small pure white one to Ace. It was around four inches long, and downy soft. One of the ones that was growing where Ben had ripped feathers out.
Ace took it with his trembling fingers. "I like feathers. They float on Zebra clouds." he rubbed it on his cheek, "It's real soft, like a gorilla made out of candy donuts and spun sugar ike cream."
Zander laughed." Is that so?" He poked at her playfully.
Dani giggled again. "No! Stop!" She shouted, giggling madly.
"Yeah, of course!" Sky agreed, sitting in a chair next to Macha's bed.
"Well, feel free to keep it. I have plenty of them." Blake forced a smile. Much like Ellis, Blake's wings were laced with scars and stunted feathers. The only difference was Blake had gotten his fighting, while Ellis had never been able to fight back. Blake wasn't grateful for much that Commander Ryder did for him, but he was slightly grateful that some of the older soldiers took pity on him when he was younger and taught him how to hold his own. "And how many times do I have to tell you it's ice cream. I-C-E. Ice as in snow and ice. Ice cream."
(LOL Ace is just like a big toddler right now)
"What is snow?" Ace tilted his head, "It sounds like blow. Is it a type of wind?"
Zander laughed and stopped poking her, but then pulled one of Blake's feathers out of his pocket." I was saving this for the next time I tickled Blake but…" Zander started to tickle her again, this time with the feather.
