Ellis' eyes lit up at Mackenzie's comment, "Yes! Actually!" He exclaimed in pride, "My brother told me that one,"

Sky smiled at the two and decided not to say anything more. They seemed to be bonding enough.

"Okay." Dani opened the note. She held it so that Zander could read it too.
Dear Dani,
My princess, I am so proud of you! Keep your head held high. Be gentle and understanding. Listen to others. Find yourself a knight in shining armor who loves you for the real you. Don't try to please others. Surrond yourself with friends that care about you and never let them go. Be kind. Be accepting of everyone. Keep that beautiful smile on your face and let others help you shoulder your pain. Set a good example for others. I might not be with you physically, but I'm still here. Keep your child-like faith and keep sharing your talents with the world. Always remember that I love you.

Tears were streaming down Dani's cheeks, but they were happy tears.

Mackenzie gave Ellis a smug look, laughing right after.

Ace nodded and practically fell onto the bed. Seeing Blake's blurry face over him, he croaked, "Stay with me? Even if I fall asleep?"

Ellis smirked back with his buck-toothed grin, "Ikm getting my big boy feathers. See?" He opened a wing, another tuft of shedding downy feathers fell to the floor. "The baby feathers are falling off,"

Mackenzie gasped. "So cool!" She stroked the feathers. "Softew(Softer) than Dani's." She remarked.

"I know~" he tossed his head proudly, "I can learn how to fly real soon when my big boy feathers are full grown," he boasted. "I'm gonna fly better than my brother and Blake combined,"

"Of course, man. I might take a nap too. I've been up since like four taking care of refugees." Blake admitted, pulling up a chair and sitting sideways in it, trying to comfortably fit his wings. There's absolutely no way I'm falling asleep. Blake sighed and draped one of his wings over Ace protectively.

Zander quietly read the note along with Dani. When he finished he looked at her, and saw tears going down her face, but she looked happier. " Your mother must have loved you a lot."

"And Dani?" She asked Ellis. "She's a wewwy good fwyer."

Ace nodded and leaned against the pillows, his eyelids getting heavy, but he still kept them up. "I probably won't sleep. I have insomnia."

Dani nodded. "I couldn't have asked for a better mother." She put the note down.

"Oh, totally," Ellis replied, "I bet I can beat any ody in a race," he replied, making the bird's wings purple.

Mackenzie giggled. "Okay."

"Do you like my bird?" He asked Mackenzie.

"That's great Dani." Zander said holding her hand.

Mackenzie gasped. "It's beautifuwl!" She said it in such a silly and drawn-out way that she collapsed on the floor in a cascade of giggles.

Dani smiled and leaned her head against Zander's shoulder.

Ellis blinked, then erupted into giggles as well, and playfully fell onto the floor with her. "Booootiful!" He giggled, and then, "Bootyful!!" And exploded in racous laughs.

Mackenzie giggled uncontrollably. Dani turned her head to look at her. "Are you guys okay?" She called out lightly.

Zander absentmindedly looked where Dani was looking, thinking about his own mother.
