Aubrey sat beside Liam, crossing one leg over the other. "Are you hungry? Do you want me to make something?"
Aubrey sat beside Liam, crossing one leg over the other. "Are you hungry? Do you want me to make something?"
He smiled, “I mean, there doesn’t look to by anything in this house. That’s one thing I should change, go shopping at least once a week.”
"I'll hold you to that," Aubrey laughed. "I'm sure I can find something to make."
“If you really want to, I can remember how to cook a few things.”
Aubrey patted Liam's knee before standing. "Well, good. That's good. Do you want to help me, then?"
“Sure, if there’s anything even in the cupboards.” He said, standing and heading back into the kitchen.
"Well, let's see…" Aubrey said, looking around. She found a box of noodles and some marinara sauce and pulled them out. "Does spaghetti sound okay?"
“Sounds fine, even if it wasn’t it would have to do.” He said, smiling.
Aubrey chuckled. "Yeah, it would. How about you start on the sauce, and I can do the noodles?"
He nodded, grabbing a pot out and a few tomato’s to put in the sauce.
Aubrey handed the jar to him with a smile. She found another pot and filled it with water, setting it on the stove to boil. As she waited for it to do so, she turned to Liam.
"Do you want meat in your sauce? Or none?" she asked.
“Do I even have any in the house?” He asked, looking in the fridge, “There’s minced beef?”
"If it's in the fridge, then it's obviously here!" Aubrey laughed. "Does that mean that you do?"
“Yes, I do.” He said, pulling the beef out the fridge, “Here.” He placed it on the counter and opened the packaging.
"Thanks," Aubrey said, pulling a pan out. She dropped the meat into it and turned the burner on. "How are you doing so far?"
He smiled a little, “Just because I can’t remember much, doesn’t mean I don’t know anything at all. He said, throwing a few spices into the sauce.
Aubrey smiled at him. "Well, yeah, I know that. I just meant, like, how're you doing with all this, like, emotionally…"
“Oh, a little better then before. I’ve remembered a few things which is a start, I guess it’ll take time…” He said, turning on another burner on the stove and placing the sauce on top.
"Good. That's good," Aubrey said softly, nodding.
Is that all you can say now? "Good"?
Liam stirred the pot before another question appeared in his mind, "What are we studying at university?" He asked.
"I'm in Pre-vet, you're going for astronomy," Aubrey reminded Liam, pouring the noodles into the now-boiling pot of water.
"Astronomy… yeah, yeah I am." He smiled when the memory came back to him.
Aubrey looked over and smiled at Liam. "Yeah. You've loved the stars for as long as I can remember. So have I…" she trailed off, her voice growing quieter as she did so. She went back to making the food.
"If you loved the stars as much as me, why didn't you go into astronomy too?" He asked, tasting the sauce.
"Because I've always wanted to become a veterinarian. Ever since I was little," Aubrey explained, continuing to cook the food without looking at Liam.
Liam smiled a little, "When we were younger, didn't you try to "help" your toys? As if they were real animals?"
Aubrey's head snapped up and she grinned at Liam. "Yeah. Yeah I did," she giggled. "I was obsessed with them."
"Yes, you were." He laughed a little.
Aubrey grinned up at him for a moment before the sound of water boiling over reached her ears. She jumped and quickly turned back to the food, yanking the cover off the pot and stirring it rapidly.
Liam chuckled, "Are the noodles nearly ready? As the sauce is just about done."
