Jack gently teased her tongue to check she was okay with this.
Paige froze when his tongue brushed around hers, unsure of what to do.

Paige froze when his tongue brushed around hers, unsure of what to do.
Jack pulled back and looked at his feet, "Sorry. I took it to fast."
"I practically live there as well, although I usually go quite deep into it." She decided to omit the fact that she actually lived there.
"It's fine…" Paige breathed quickly, compensating for her rapid heartbeat.
"Really? Have you ever stumbled across a small treehouse about halfway in?"
"Once or twice, although I usually let it be. The animals stay away from it."
Jack swallowed his breathing rapid, "O-oh. Okay."
He chuckled nervously. "That's mine. I practically live there…and also do. It's better than being at my actual house, I'll tell you that."
"Yeah… the forest is nice. I remember I shot an arrow at the treehouse once to see what would happen. The results were rather underwhelming."
"I remember that day! It scared the shit out of me! I nearly screamed."
"It was a good shot, though. I'm quite good with a bow."
"I'm better with knives, to be honest. I'm good with a bow, but my throwing skills can't be beat."
"I've been trained with a bow, though I'm also quite proficient with a shortsword. I rarely use either for hunting, however. The animals are my friends."
"I don't hunt. I don't bother the animals and they don't bother me." He sighed. "Have you heard the news?"
"What news?" Caire perked up a bit with curiosity and a hint of worry. If something happened to the forest…
"They're planning on tearing the forest down. Something about putting up a new mall or whatever. Construction starts in a few weeks."
"What?! We have to stop them! Who's behind it?" Caire seemed angry, but also very worried now. If the forest was taken down, not only would her entire race be discovered, but they'd be out of a home. She knew that the elves would fight against it, but it still made he anxious.
"The local government. They want to attract more people to the town so they think putting this monstrosity up will help."
"How do we stop them? They can't take down the forest! Think of all the poor animals; they wont have anywhere to go!"
"And neither will I. I'm not going back to that god forsaken place that I'm forced to call my home. I'm not doing it. As for stopping them, I don't know. I think it's too late."
"The forest will fight back. It always does." Caire said firmly, balling her hands into fists. "And I will fight alongside it."
"And I will too. We're in this together." He felt so out of place. She was so confident and strong about it while he was nervous and scared.
"The forest is my home, and I won't let some stupid people who are supposedly my superiors take that from me. I'll just have to fetch my bow to convince a few people."
(Okay, my laptop is about to die and my brother has my charger so if I randomly disappear, that's why.)
"Exactly. If they want my home, they'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands."
The bell rang for the next period.
He looked at her. "Should we go? Because I'd much rather stay in here, to be completely honest."
Jack grabbed her hand, “Let’s go then.”
"I have no desire to go to class right now. My next class is History, and quite frankly, I don't care about history." Caire examined her chalky hands.
He rubbed the chalk dust off her hands. "There. Much better." He smiled lightly.
